WHAT IS THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE?
| |
What is the temperature outside? Can you guess without looking at a thermometer? Yes, you can! Dolbear's law is a formula that is used to relate to the number of times a cricket chirps to the actual temperature outside.
- Count the number of times that a cricket chirps in 15 seconds.
- Add 40 to this number.
So, if a cricket chirps 34 times in 15 seconds, then the temperature outside is approximately 74 degrees Fahrenheit.

Some of the participants of Cardiac Bingo held in the office on June 29th are pictured above. From left to right, Ce Ce with her grandmother Pam Carpenter, Ben Roth, Oakleigh with her mom Emily Foley, Rodgina Pierre, Biyanka Leosthene, Kendra Rock, and Rodeline Leosthene.
Special Guest Benjamin Robert Roth, caller for Bingo, was quick to remind his grandmother, Education Coordinator Pat Roth when they sat down to eat, that she should not put salt on her food as it wasn't good for her heart. Remember we learned that at Bingo grandmama?
