HOME HELPERS WELCOMES OUR NEW HR RECRUITER!

Jeffrey Graham has been promoted from within the Home Helpers organization and recently assumed his role as the new recruiter for our caregivers. Jeff has been employed as a caregiver for Home Helpers since May 2020 and his new promotion became effective on January 9, 2024.

Prior to coming to Home Helpers, he worked in customer service, and he also currently works part time as an event planner. He will be responsible for scheduling and promoting hiring events and attending off-site career fairs. As Home Helpers continues to grow with clients requesting care, Jeff will be instrumental in obtaining competent, dependable, compassionate caregivers who will be able to meet their needs.

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION CPR TRAINING CERTIFICATION OFFERED BY CPR BOSTON

HOME HELPERS EDUCATIONAL IN-SERVICE OFFERED

WEDNESDAY MARCH 13, 2024, AT 6:00 PM

609 NEPONSET STREET - CANTON, MA

Home Helpers is offering CPR certification and has hired CPR Boston to be a provider of the American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR/AED skills practicum session at our home care office. This in-service is being offered as part of our commitment to educating our caregivers on cardiac health.

This course will be a hybrid class; meaning that you will need to complete some classes online and then come into the office and practice on manikins. You must complete the online classes first and on March 13th you will be awarded your CPR Certification following adequate demonstration at the practicum session.

Please register for this class if you are interested. You will be provided with a code to log onto the site which will allow you to bypass payment. This program is being offered free of charge to our employees of Home Helpers as a benefit to our caregivers and as part of our Heart Healthy Campaign.

Once you have completed the online videos and tests, please print your completion form and bring this and a photo ID to your March 13th session. If you want to become CPR certified, and you are unable to attend the March 13th session, you will be provided with alternative dates for the practicum session offered by CPR Boston at their Milton location.

EDUCATIONAL INSIGHT

Often it is better to eat our vegetables raw as they contain more nutritional value than when they are cooked. Sometimes important vitamins and minerals are lost when they are cooked. Spinach is an exception to this rule!

According to Livestrong.com, a cup of raw spinach contains 167 milligrams of potassium on average but when cooked, 1 cup of spinach will contain 840 milligrams of potassium. Such a profound difference!

Potassium is a mineral and electrolyte that is instrumental in supporting heart health and normal blood pressure as well as supporting nerve impulses and muscles in the body. It can help remove excess amounts of sodium in the body which will help lower blood pressure. It is vital to have the correct amount of potassium in the body. Too much or too little can produce health problems.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

"Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same."

- Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of "A Course in Miracles."

EXCEPTIONAL CAREGIVER SPOTLIGHT

ON

MICHELLE BELGRAVE

Michelle emulates the true meaning of being a compassionate caregiver, as her heart overflows with love to the clients she serves. Although she feels that it is an honor to serve the elderly, we are honored to have her as a member of our extraordinary team of caregivers. Described as a "Superstar" by the scheduler and the administration team, Michelle Belgrave provided strong support over the holidays to our clients when there were additional needs for care.

RECOGNIZING AND HONORING THE

DIVERSITY OF OUR CAREGIVERS

With each newsletter sent to our employees, Home Helpers would like to share a little of the culture, history, and inner beauty of our caregivers. If you would like to teach us about your country, a special hobby or tradition, please let us know. We want to share your story so that we can all learn about your experiences, and we can grow, appreciate, and be united in our mutual goals of respect, kindness, and making the world a better place to live.
