JULY 2022

Laura Coia, SewVeryEasy, with Rhonda.

H+H Americas, Rosemont IL.

Two more trips this month. Hooray! My world of stitches is splitting open without a seam ripper. Lol… Oh, how I have missed my sewing & quilt buddies. No doubt I love giving SCHMETZ virtuals, but interaction and nuances of in-person classes and events cannot be beat. The ideas, stories, and projects I learn from you fire me up to hone my SCHMETZ education and personally inspire me to sew and quilt new ideas.

When traveling, keeping my personal blog is easier too. Take a look at where I have been and who I have met since June 12th: Sew More Stitches. From beautiful Michigan, the epicenter of blueberry country, to a local quilt show with friends, to meeting up with my friend and super YouTube sewing star Laura Coia at H+H Americas.

The new month is upon us. Only six more months to the year and I’m looking forward to meeting up with even more sewing sisters and brothers. Maybe I’ll meet you too? Hugs to you all ...

Clues to Change the Needle

Whether giving in-person classes at a guild or shop or virtually, what’s Rhonda's most frequently asked question? How long does a needle last? Who knows? Could be seconds. Could be hours. Better to re-frame the question and ask, What are the clues to changing the needle? No matter what brand of sewing machine you use, these are the clues to changing the needle:

  • Thread breaking or shredding
  • Skipped stitches
  • Puckered or damaged fabrics
  • Uneven seams
  • Machine popping or clicking sound

What’s the solution? Change the needle!
