City Updates

Construction of the Highest Producing Well in the City Completed

The City of Gig Harbor has completed construction of the new Well #11 facility. Well #11 produces 1,000 gallons/minute and is the highest producing well in the City. The well facility includes a well house for piping, equipment and controls, and a new emergency back-up power generator. Well #11 is located north of the Boys and Club on the City’s Public Works Operations and Maintenance facility site.

As part of the 2012 Water System Plan update, the Department of Health required the City to develop an additional water well to help assure that in the unlikely event the City’s highest producing wells were ever out of service, the redundant well could replace it and limit the need for water-use rationing. Kudos to Trent Ward, PE, Senior Engineer, George Flanigan, Construction Supervisor and Maree' George, Public Works Assistant, for completing the project successfully under budget.
Ribbon Cutting for Harbor Hill Drive
Please join us on Saturday, August 11th, at 11am for the ribbon cutting and celebration for the opening of this stretch of roadway. Meet at the top of the hill at 11am for a short presentation. More info here. The roadway has been paved and striped and construction is nearing completion with the installation of landscaping and irrigation, street lights and pedestrian guardrail currently in progress.
