Since we started this auction, we have learned so many fun facts about the Ford Motor Company and its place in Kentucky history. We thought we would share some of our favorites below.



  1. Ford employs over 12,000 people in Kentucky.
  2. Each hour in Louisville, over 70 cars come off that line and measure bumper-to-bumper around three city blocks.
  3. Kentucky Truck Plant KTP has more than 24 miles of conveyor belts, or the distance between Elizabethtown and Fort Knox.
  4. The current F-series as we know it has been the bestselling truck for 39 consecutive years, and for 34 of those years it was the best-selling vehicle overall in America.
  5. The F-150 debuted in 1975, but the F-series that precedes it began in 1948 with the Ford Bonus-Built.
  6. The Ford F-150 was the original monster truck in the ‘80s.
  7. In 1913, assembly operations begins in two small shops at Third and Breckinridge Streets. Output reaches 12 Model T bodies a day.
  8. Ford announces it will build twin battery manufacturing plants in Hardin County to power its forthcoming lineup of electric vehicles in 2021. This will create 5,000 additional Kentucky jobs by 2025.
  9. Ford is the second largest family-owned company in the world with a great grandson of Henry Ford still at the wheel today. William Clay Ford, Jr. is the resident executive chairman.
  10. Legacy Louisville auctions its first Ford F-150 with only 12,000 miles on it.
