This competition is open to professional artists, and professional artist-led teams. Teams local to Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario are strongly encouraged to apply.

Community Group Competition


Invitation to Community Groups

This snow sculpting opportunity is open to community members, groups and organizations interested in designing and carving a small block snow sculpture for the SnowDay event.

These teams do not have to be professional artists or professional artists led.

Get inspired and watch below the incredible snow carvers from SnowDay 2023!

Snow Carving Workshop

This workshop is a great opportunity to gain experience how to design and carve a snow sculpture while also making your own set of carving tools.


Open to beginners, dabblers, hobbyists, and the simply curious 13-years and older!


This workshop is a collaboration between the City of Thunder Bay and Willow Springs Creative Centre and will be coordinated by Judi Vinni of Willow Springs Creative Centre at the Baggage Building Arts Centre, Prince Arthur's Landing in Marina Park.


Remember to dress appropriately for the weather, portions of the workshop take place both indoors and outdoors.


No experience needed! Space is limited. 


Date: Sunday, February 11th, 2024

Time: 1:00pm to 4:30pm

Location: Baggage Building Arts Centre

Fee: $40 + HST – includes all materials, including what you will need to build your own tools.

Age: 13 years plus.



Workshop registration: Minimum 6, maximum 10

Winter FunDays 2024

Fun in the Snow!


The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the return of Winter FunDays in 2024!

 

Every Sunday from 2pm-4pm, January 7th to March 17th, exciting activities that highlight the joy of winter will be held at the Marina and other neighbourhoods throughout the city. All activities will have an indoor and outdoor option and are free to attend!

Volunteering with the Recreation & Culture division with the City of Thunder Bay is a great way to give back to our community, learn new skills, meet new friends, gain work experience and have fun!

 

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities offered all year round.
