IT WAS HERS TO START



This notebook originally belonged to Anna Marij Frans (d. 1717). She wrote some Dutch verses in the front, and her ?son used it for arithmetic exercises. In 1703, she gave it to her new husband, Pieter Moentack — one of the wealthiest citizens of Bruges. He recorded over a thousand wine and liquor sales over eight years (Bruges 1700-15, 4to), keeping track of place, date, buyer and cost.

INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE



Bergier's Archemeron (Paris 1617, 8vo) is a landmark in geography, horology and navigation. Bergier was the first Christian to propose a location for the date line. This copy is bound in the arms of the Marquis de Ménars, and includes both the first edition and the expanded second (Reims 1629, 8vo).
