Greetings!
As I write this, I realize that this is my last column in the
Fundamental Tone
as Chair of Area 1. Whenever a “last” thing comes up, it seems to be a cause for reflection and looking back. I suppose this will be no different. I’m proud of the two years that I have served as Chair, mostly spending time getting to know you, as handbell ringers and directors, all over New England.

Help us put all handbell groups in Area 1 on the map!
Area 1 leadership is conducting a brief survey to gather demographic information about all handbell groups in our region (all 6 New England States and the Canadian Maritimes). We are making excellent progress, and we want to be sure to include every group, no matter how small!
Click
here
to see the interactive map that we've compiled so far, and if you have not yet completed the survey, please click
here
to get your group added to the map.
Also, if you know of other groups that are not accounted for, please share the links.
Thank you for your help!

Greetings Ringers!
As of May 1
st
, 2019, I am the new Connecticut State Chair for Area 1. My sincere thanks go to Mobby Larson for her many years of serving Area 1 in this position, and also for her help as she works with me to make this transition go as smoothly as possible.

Thanks to all the folks who completed the demographic survey last month. If you did not receive the survey, please let me know.
We actually heard from 22 Maine bell choirs of which 4 were youth choirs.
It was decided at the last Area 1 Board of Directors meeting that each state should focus on support for youth bell choirs who will be the future of bell ringing in Maine.

Greeting from your MA state chair.
For many of us, this is a busy time for end-of-the-year activities and concerts before we plan for another new season of ringing. Our work is never ending!
But let’s take a look a look at an event that took place since the last
Fundamental Tone
issue.

As of this issue, I have received one application for the 2019/20 school year. There are 4 sets of chimes and books still available for 2019/20.

Directors and Ringers
We need you! At this time the pool of potential subs has grown to 50 ringers and directors, but in order to serve it's purpose, (since it covers a five-state area), it needs to be bigger! Once a ringer is in, it works exactly like an email:
snagasub@googlegroups.com
, then "battery ringer needed for (date, place, time, etc.)", and anyone in the group has the option to reply or ignore/delete. Please spread the word.
