IMRF Can Only Accept the 2021 W-4P Form
The IRS has updated the W-4P form for 2022, but they are allowing organizations one year to prepare their systems for the new form. IMRF is not yet able to process the 2022 version of the form.
As an IMRF retiree, you would use the W-4P form to establish or change the tax withholding from your benefits payments. If you already have a W-4P on file with IMRF, you do not need to submit a new form unless you want to change your tax withholding. If you do not file a new W-4P, IMRF will compute your withholding based on the information from the existing W-4P we have on file.
The quickest and easiest way to file W-4P tax withholding information is through our secure Member Access. See the box below for details.
A paper copy of the 2021 W-4P form is available for download
here.
Please note: If you try to update your withholding using the 2022 version of the W-4P form, IMRF will not be able to accept the form.
*If you are unsure about the correct withholding amount, please consult your tax advisor.
