This course introduces the concepts of public utility accounting, financing, cost allocation, and rate design to public utility commissioners, professional staff, consumer and environmental advocates, utility personnel, and other stakeholders.

This advanced course offers specialized topics designed to provide public sector and private sector professionals in the regulatory policy community with a unique opportunity to interact and exchange ideas on technical, methodological, and policy issues. 

This course will be delivered as four two-hour sessions meeting October 1, 8, 15, and 22. This will be offered live on Zoom with engagement in each session.

  • Utility depreciation and retirement
  • Regulatory treatment of income taxes
  • XBRL for regulators and utilities
  • Methods of the valuation of utility assets
