Parks invest in $3.5 million endowment, board approves $3 million in grants to improve county |
In addition to approving nearly $3 million in grants, on Sept. 9, Akron Community Foundation's board welcomed Summit Metro Parks Executive Director Lisa King and park district commissioners Jane Bond and Herb Newman as they announced the establishment of the Summit Metro Parks Foundation Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation. The $3.5 million fund is the second-largest agency endowment fund in the community foundation's history.

Ground-up neighborhood projects and local economic development efforts were bolstered this quarter as Akron Community Foundation's board and donor-advised fundholders joined forces to award $492,000 in grants to a variety of civic projects, from East Akron to downtown, and Kenmore to West Hill. |
