This program element solicits proposals that would enable:
- Decision-making to combat the spread of invasive species,
- Advance the use of ecosystem service assessment for decision-making, and
- Inform management, establishment, or protection of protected areas.
Proposals must include the following three components: Earth observations, in-situ biological observations, and ecological models to develop decision-support tools. Proposals must outline activities and products that will achieve operational deployment and sustained use in decision-making by the end user(s) before the end of the award. To feasibly achieve this objective, all submissions must show a demonstrated maturity in development beyond initial discovery, feasibility, and development and an established relationship with an end user.

- Research on the therapeutic application of an oral CGRP antagonist, rimegepant, in migraine, headache, and other diseases where CGRP antagonism may be of clinical benefit
- The development of tools for clinicians and patients to improve the care of migraine patients
- Research regarding health disparities associated with migraine
|
|
- Improve ability to assess patients for potential DDIs prior to treatment
- Increase confidence with managing DDIs (monitoring parameters, dose adjustments, therapy adjustments, etc.) and potential adverse events
- Increase awareness of tools available to manage DDIs for outpatient COVID-19 therapeutics
- Increase awareness of national COVID-19 treatment guidelines (e.g., NIH, IDSA, etc.) for COVID-19 in non-hospitalized patients
|
|
Endometriosis
- Educate on how the use of imaging, patient history, and physical examination may facilitate an earlier clinical diagnosis of endometriosis and how these may be used to shift away from surgical diagnosis
- Inform how delays in diagnosis can contribute to increased patient distress (including negative effects on quality of life, psychosocial wellbeing, etc.) and what long-term impact this may have on prognosis and treatment (i.e.: centralization of pain)
- Review the use of medical therapies early in the treatment journey and in conjunction with surgery, and how this may affect the need for repeated surgery
- Highlight the estrogen threshold hypothesis and the role of GnRH antagonists as a treatment for endometriosis, with emphasis on long-term efficacy & safety results
|
|
Uterine Fibroids
- Review recent clinical management guidelines for management of uterine fibroids, current treatment options (e.g., surgery and medical) and highlight gaps in care/management
- Review treatment goals, patient preferences (e.g., to preserve fertility/uterus or avoid invasive procedures), and the need for shared decision making
- Highlight the burden of uterine fibroids symptoms (e.g., heavy menstrual bleeding, bulk symptoms, pain, negative effects on quality of life, psychosocial wellbeing, etc.) and available management options
- Educate on the estrogen threshold hypothesis and the role of GnRH antagonists as a treatment for uterine fibroids, including recent long-term treatment data
