The program supports studies on interventions aimed to enhance research-oriented individuals’ interest, motivation, persistence, and preparedness for careers in the biomedical research workforce. The new FOA has a significant change, which is that it will no longer accept applications that seek support for research designed solely to inform interventions. Investigators seeking support for research solely to inform interventions and advance the scientific basis of innovation policy in the biomedical sciences, are encouraged to consider the program Science of Science Policy Approach to Analyzing and Innovating the Biomedical Research Enterprise (SCISIPBIO) as an alternative.

Letter of Intent Due:

The National NASA EPSCoR Program will be releasing the 2022 Research Collaboration Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN) in late fall 2021. NV NASA EPSCoR will be permitted to submit a single full proposal, which will likely be due in early February or March 2022. To allow sufficient time to select and develop a single strong full proposal from Nevada, a letter of intent and pre-proposals are being solicited in advance of the Federal CAN release. The LOIs are required to submit a pre-proposal and will be used to select review panel members for the pre-proposal competitive external review. The results of the external review will result in the selection of one pre-proposal that will advance to full proposal development. Note: the National NASA EPSCoR CAN will only permit one full proposal submission per EPSCoR state.
Eligibility: Faculty at NSHE institutions, particularly junior faculty, women, and members of other underrepresented populations are encouraged to apply. Faculty who have a current National NASA EPSCoR Research CAN project are not eligible to apply while their project is on-going. Pre-proposals must include Co-PIs from at least three NSHE institutions.
Funding: The NASA EPSCoR Research CAN will provide an award of $1,125,000 total for a three-year period with the expectation of a 2:1 match; i.e., $750K in Federal funds and $375K in state matching funds (contingent on matching fund availability) and/or institutional match.

Nevada Humanities Major Project Grants Portal Now Open

Nevada Humanities announces the opening of the Nevada Humanities Major Project Grants that are part of the FY2022 Nevada Humanities Project Grants to Support Public Humanities Projects. These Major Project Grants, which fund projects and organizations across the state, have a public humanities project focus, and will support public humanities projects that range from one month to one year to implement.
Through this Major Project Grant program, Nevada Humanities offers grants of up to $7,500 to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, tribal entities, and governmental entities, which includes libraries, museums, and educational institutions, to fund public and educational programs in the humanities. The funding that comprises these grants addresses the continuing need for humanities-based, cultural programs statewide.
The Nevada Humanities Major Project Grant application deadline is September 10, 2021, for projects taking place beginning November 1, 2021, and running through October 31, 2022. Grantees will be notified of their grant awards in late October 2021. Grant guidelines and a FAQ are available on the Nevada Humanities website.

BrightFocus Foundation Invites Letters of Intent for Macular Degeneration Research: New Investigator Grant Program — Grants of up to $450,000 over three years will be awarded in support of new and early investigators who have received their MD, PhD, or equivalent degree within the past 10 years at the time of application.
Innovative Research Grants — Grants of up to $600,000 over three years will be awarded in support of high-risk/high-gain age-related macular degeneration research.

Society of Critical Care Medicine Invites Applications for Research: SCCM-Weil Research — Two grants of $50,000 each will be awarded to SCCM professionals or select members in support of basic, translational, or clinical research.
Discovery Research — Grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded to SCCM professionals or select members in support of a multi-institutional study (a collaboration between at least two institutions) that has a plan for engagement of junior investigators.
