Nevada EPSCoR HDRFS Seed Grants
2024-2025 Harnessing the Data Revolution for Fire Science (HDRFS) Seed Grants. Five (5) seed grants of $30,000 each are expected to be awarded. Full-time faculty members from all NSHE campuses are eligible to apply. Deadline: 04/01/2024, 5:00 pm PT.

The NSF EPSCoR RII Track-1: Harnessing the Data Revolution for Fire Science (HDRFS) project has released a Request for Proposals for 2024-2025 Seed Grants. The overarching goal of the HDRFS project is to increase the capacity of Nevada for wildland fire research, education, and workforce development and to demonstrate this increased capacity through fire research in the regionally important sagebrush ecosystem.

HDRFS will engage faculty in areas related to, but not recognized in, the current research to provide new opportunities and pursue high-risk, high-impact research. HDRFS seed funding is not intended to provide a substitute for NSF individual investigator funding. Seed grant funding will provide strategic mechanisms for additional research, education, and workforce development (E-WFD), and sustainability in relevant areas and will provide proof of principle results needed to secure external funding. Research areas should align with the 2020 NSHE Science and Technology Plan (S&T). Research areas may include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Ecology (Eco)
  • Hydrology (Hydro)
  • Fire Processes (FP)
  • Fire Emissions and their Atmospheric Aging (FEAA)
  • Cyberinfrastructure Innovations (CII)
  • Education and Workforce Development (E-WFD
  • Broadening Participation (BP)
NIAE Grant Program
2024-2025 National Institute for the Advancement of Education (NiAE) Grant Program. $2,500 up to $25,000. Open to all NSHE faculty, UNLV graduate students and practitioners/community members practicing in the state of Nevada or working in education-related or educational service organizations. Deadline: 04/15/2024.

2024-2025 Cycle Theme: Effective Teacher Retention Strategies for Nevada

The 2024-2025 NIAE Grant Program supports interdisciplinary research-practice-policy efforts that advance social justice and equitable access to education and wrap-around services for all students, families, communities, and educators at the local, state, national, and international levels.

Additionally, it connects researchers with NIAE resources to develop research and project ideas (Idea Nursery), project exploration, project design, project execution/ implementation, and dissemination and reporting. NIAE collaborates with research partners to identify and pursue additional funding opportunities for long-term research projects. Special priority is given to programs seeded through the NIAE Grant Program.
While the NIAE has an extensive focus area that supports education innovation in PK-20 and workforce development, the preferred grant topics may vary per cycle. Grants focusing on the particular cycle topic will take precedence over others, but researchers are encouraged to submit proposals that align with any of the NIAE goals:

  1. Identify, develop, and evaluate educator preparation practices in response to changing societal contexts.
  2. Produce the next generation of practices for education and educational services for children and families that yield significant educational, social, and other community-oriented outcomes.
  3. Develop scholarship and products (e.g., educator preparation materials, transferrable education interventions, and recommendations for policy and advocacy) that may be transferable to community-centered work designed to engage intersectional, diverse populations nationally and internationally.

The 2024-2025 NIAE Grant Program specifically targets identifying, developing, and evaluating innovative educator retention practices.
