Internal Call for Core Research Projects
The existing CDC-funded Injury Prevention Research Center at Emory is seeking proposals for four (4) core research projects that would be funded through its 5-year competitive renewal. Projects will run for either 2 or 3 years (either 2024-2026 or 2026-2029). To promote equity and transparency in the selection process, the team is soliciting abstracts from investigators interested in leading one of these core research projects.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation – Policies to Build and Sustain Economic Security and Wealth for Families and Communities of Color
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is committed to building a Culture of Health that provides everyone in America a fair and just opportunity for health and well-being. Racial disparities in COVID-19 infections and deaths have brought to the forefront well-documented and longstanding inequities in family and community wealth and opportunity. Upending centuries of policy decisions that perpetuated racism will require significant transformation to elevate the voices of communities historically excluded from decision-making.

To help position Emory faculty for the launch of ARPA-H, the Office of the Sr. Vice President for Research, in consultation with the Office of the Provost, has created the ARPA-H seed funds program. These seeds are intended to lead to competitive ARPA-H proposals. In alignment with ARPA-H’s expected culture and processes, this seed funding aims to rapidly de-risk bold, revolutionary concepts in the biomedical and health sciences.
Given the unique culture of ARPA-H and its reliance on program managers to make funding decisions based on the Heilmeier Questions (and not peer review), awardees will receive tailored training and feedback on their responses to the Heilmeier Questions. During and after the conclusion of the seed project, seed recipients will work with the Office of Research Development to refine their ARPA-H pitch.
