You Are What You Eat Forum

A FREE ENRICHMENT BROADCAST SERIES

Led by Jim Eskin, Fundraising Trainer/Consultant

There are an infinite number of food decisions and choices you make each day. They reflect an infinite number of influences such as health, age, taste preferences, socio-economic conditions and so on. They can also speak volumes about personality. Karen Wu, Ph.D., associate professor of Psychology at California State University, Los Angeles, points to unsurprising and surprising conclusions. Bitter food, you may be a bitter person. In other words, you may have greater levels of anti-social or psychopathic traits. Sweet food, you may be a sweetheart. In direct contrast with bitter preferences, preferences for sweetness are associated with greater pro-sociality. Healthy food, you may be more open, extroverted, or conscientious, or you may be happier. Spicy food, you may be greater in sensation-seeking and salivary testosterone. There is something thrilling about pushing oneself to the limit. Bland food, or food less likely to make you sick, you may be lower in sensation-seeking. Caffeine, you may be greater in sensation-seeking. No doubt, interpretations are limitless. A multi-disciplinary and international panel of subject matter experts will lead our timely discussion on decisions that affect everyone every day. Since there are a zillion opinions and the stakes are so high, be sure to add your voice, perspective and personal insights.
