ICNA Relief Chicago is embarking upon a unique project to try to fulfill a great need in the Muslim community. 1 in every 4 women are abused in America and the Muslim community is no exception to that. Effects of which impact not just the individual but the whole family and its future! InshaAllah, ICNA Relief Chicago in coordination with ICNA Relief national will be opening its first Domestic Violence Shelter serving the Greater Chicago community. ICNA Relief has successfully launched shelters in New York, Houston, and Baton Rouge. Please join us for the fundraising banquet as we launch this important project. InshaAllah the dinner will be on Saturday June 25th at 6pm at Lazzat Restaurant in Streamwood. Featuring Sr. Lauren Booth(Sister in law of Tony Blair), Shaykh Omer Suleiman, and Sr. Malika Rushdan.

Sister Lauren Booth
Sr. Lauren Booth is a human rights activist who recently embraced Islam. She is also the sister-in-law of the Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of Great Britain.
Sr. Lauren Booth is a journalist covering the Muslim world for Press TV. With her willing servitude to God, she found in Islam a peace she had not known before, "This peace has not left me since, and Insha Allah, it never will" said Booth. Sr. Booth was recently honored by Islamic Circle of North America for her humanitarian work in Palestine.
Shaykh Omer Suleiman
Shaykh Omer Suleiman is the Imam of Masjid Abu Bakr in New Orleans and a member of the ICNA Shariah Council. He is also the outreach director of ICNA Relief in Louisiana. He studied traditional Islamic sciences in UAE and from scholars from Umm Al Qura. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in the "Fiqh of Minorities."
Imam Omar recently joined the Sharia Academy of America as an instructor and conducts online University courses and in the areas of Fiqh, Usool Al Fiqh, Dawah, and Hadeeth.
Sister Malika Rushdan Sr. Malika Rushdan is the Development Director for ICNA Relief. Originally from Boston, Sr. Malika has an extensive background in Youth and Community Development with well over 12 years experience working with refugee youth. Sr. Malika founded the Al-Huda Society, a non-profit serving the religious, social and educational needs of Muslim families in the Metro-Boston area. She was appointed the pioneer director of Community Organizing for Somerville Community Corporation.
