2017-18 #WhatMatters
Fundraising & Financing Results
|
|
Thank you to the hundreds of families and individuals that have contributed to our #WhatMatters capital campaign.
In 2017-18, we raised almost $2Million in donations and pledges towards our $3Million goal.
A combination of financial gifts and state tax exempt bonds have provided the funding to start PHASE 1 of the complex.
We will continue to fundraise in 2018-19 and ask for donations to meet the needs of our general operating budget and to complete the #WhatMatters capital campaign.

What will be included in PHASE 1?
(Estimated completion Fall 2019)
|
|
Purchase +40acres in Huntersville.
CSD completed the land purchase in 2018 and is currently the owner of one of the most beautiful parcels of property in Huntersville zoned for educational purposes and outdoor recreation. The property is located on the corner of Bud Henderson and Beatties Ford Road.
Engineering, grading, and site work for the entire site.
Although our plan is to develop the complex in phases, we will engineer, grade, and install the site work for the full parcel as part of PHASE 1.
Road improvements, Bike lanes, and sidewalks.
Our future complex will have entrances with new run lanes on both Bud Henderson and Beatties Ford. CSD has submitted road improvement designs to NCDOT to include ingress turn lanes to safely access our complex. CSD is also working with the Town of Huntersville to add bike lanes and sidewalks along Bud Henderson.
Parking (approximately 350 stalls)
Rarely does a facility have too much paved parking. In PHASE 1, CSD will build parking stalls that exceeds Town and County minimum requirements.
Field house
A new 4,300 square foot facility will be built to include restrooms, concessions, training room, and locker rooms.

|
Tennis Courts
Eight (8) lighted tennis courts will be built and designed to meet USTA standards.
Synthetic turf field for Men’s and Ladies’ sports
Synthetic turf and Stadium lights will be installed and allow CSD to use the field throughout the year. The field will be used for Football, Soccer, and Lacrosse.
Bleacher seating for 1,500 spectators
Aluminum angle-frame bleachers with access ramps will be installed on both the home and visitor side of the field. The home side bleachers will have seating for approximately 1,000 spectators and include a conditioned press box.
8-lane IAAF Track built to accommodate adaptive athletes
CSD will build one of the nicest tracks in the area. Eight (8) lanes will allow CSD to host larger regional track events and the rubberized surface has been proven to reduce runner’s impact that can cause injury. Each lane will be built 48” wide to meet the standards for Paralympics. An IAAF certification will mean this track will have similar parameters as the tracks used in the Olympics where world records are set.

Fundraising Goal for 2018-19
$1 Million
Annual Donations & Additional Fundraising
|
|
Our capital campaign goal for this school year is $1,000,000.
Our school’s top priority will always be our students, teachers, and staff.
In order to provide an effective learning environment and quality education, our operating budget depends on annual giving and constant fundraising. This year our fundraising goal has been set at $1Million. We plan to allocate the first $600,000 raised to be exclusively used towards our operating budget. This $600,000 helps offset the deficit between the state funds provided and the actual cost of a CSD education. To make a general donation or pledge,
contact Joyce Burke
. We hope to use the remaining $400,000 raised for multiple projects needed to complete PHASE 1 of the CSD Athletic Complex & Park.

|
Our school is comprised of 817 families, serving 1399 students. We are asking you and your family to donate each year to help us retain our terrific staff, keep all of our programs operational, and provide quality education for all of our students. Last year we initiated a monthly online payment option for families who prefer to spread their donation across months vs one donation payment. If our goal was equally divided among our families the monthly amount would be $102/month per family. To maximize your donation contact your HR department explore matching it. Many area companies offer 1:1 or even 1:2 matching. A sampling of gift matching programs is linked below. We realize some families are unable to contribute that amount each month and are so grateful for the families lovingly provide above and beyond. As a community of concerned and involved families we ask for you to pull together as we strive to reach our goal. Thank you to our families who made three year pledges last year during our $3M capital drive, please reach out if you need a contribution history update.
Fundraising efforts for 2018-19 will include:
Ongoing support through Smile Amazon, HT VIC cards, Box Tops for Education, Print Social, etc.
Community Support Cards

What else is needed to complete PHASE 1?
($400,000 of the 2018-19 Goal of $1M)
|
|
Activity Bus ($105,000)
CSD plans to use the future athletics facility as a morning and afternoon bus stop location. We need this additional bus to also have a lift and modifications to be wheelchair accessible.
Stadium scoreboard and sound system ($125,000)
In addition to donations, funding for the scoreboard can come from area businesses and corporations looking to make an impact in their community. To inquire about a scoreboard sponsorship at the new complex,
contact Jay Martin
.
Field House furnishings, seating, and equipment ($30,000)
Facility operations and maintenance equipment ($30,000)
We will need equipment and machinery for facility maintenance, and various miscellaneous items required for operations.
Sport Specific needs for PHASE 1:
Track & Field Equipment ($75,000)
A state or the art track needs hurdles, starting blocks, pads for high jumps and pole vaults. We will need the cages and equipment to throw the shot put and discus.
Tennis ($12,500)
Items needed include windscreens, water stations, rollers, spectator seating, scoring systems, etc.
Football ($10,000)
Items needed include down markers, yardage indicators, team benches, etc.
Soccer & LAX ($12,500)
Items needed primarily include new goals and nets.

|
What else is needed to complete PHASE 2?
(Goal is an additional +$1Million)
|
|
In addition to the $1Million fundraising goal for 2018-19 required for operations and to complete PHASE 1, there is another $1Million needed for PHASE 2. CSD will start accepting dedicated donations for PHASE 2 now! Let's try to raise $2Million before June 2019 and complete PHASE 1 & PHASE 2!
|
|
Cabin Restoration ($100,000)
On the property is an ante-bellum 2-story log cabin that needs restoration. The cabin can serve as a representation of local history and potentially serve as a space for learning and artistic activities.
Aux Field ($240,000)
One stadium field will not be enough to accommodate all of our teams and sports. This auxiliary grass field will help satisfy the demand for field space. Our teams are currently paying to use fields at Bradford Park, Bailey Rd Park, and at River Run.
Lights on Aux Field ($265,000)
If we can install lights on the auxiliary grass field it will allow CSD with extended use of the field, and also provide more rental income opportunities.
Baseball Field ($245,000)
Our High School Baseball team currently practices at Bradford Park and plays games at Moore Park in Mooresville. Owning our own field will help with scheduling, reduce player travel, and provide an element of America’s favorite pastime to the complex.
Field House Air Conditioning and upgrades ($50,000)
Our PHASE 1 budget required us to make many tough choices and we had to be ultra frugal in the design of the field house. With additional funding we could add some features to the design like an improved covered porch area, better flooring and roofing materials, and HVAC in the locker rooms.
Playground ($100,000)
This complex needs swings and play equipment for elementary children.
Plus, we are hoping for additional funds to include: additional sidewalks and pedestrian paths, walking trail, community garden, open mic and performance stage, and a
dditional beautification projects. For more information,
contact Jay Martin
