Issue #51 | May 2022

Hello Changemakers - from all of us here at United Way Youth Venture (UWYV), Changemaking and Portrait of a Graduate (POG)

There was another great Venture Team launch this month. The Toy Town Changemakers from Toy Town Elementary School launched a Venture to raise money to put up signs in Winchendon that educate the public on what polluting does to wild life.

The Operation Courtyard Cleanup Team out of Parker Charter School recently held their fundraiser. They taped their principal to the wall. Read more below.

The NoSo Homeschool Changemakers raised over $400 at their bake sale at the Farmers Exchange in Townsend.

We recently announced the UWYV scholarship award recipients at the United Way Thank You event on April 27 at Great Wolf Lodge. Read more below and click here to view all scholarship recipients.

As always, we are grateful for your continued support.

This team recently held a plant sale fundraiser at the Taste of Winchendon event and sold out of all the plants and raised over $400! This money will be used to purchase signs that will educate the community on the dangers to animals when people pollute.

The NoSo Homeschool Changemakers raised $435 at their fundraiser! They held a bake sale at the Farmers Exchange in Townsend on April 23. Team members baked cookies, brownies, muffins and lollipops to sell. They will donate these funds to Adey Wildlife Rescue in Ashburnham. Congratulations on a successful fundraiser and thank you for your support of the wild animals in our area.

We recognized four students. We awarded two Youth Venture scholarships, along with the Phil Grzewinski Innovation Award and the Bob Chauvin Leadership awardClick here to read about these inspiring students.

This year, the Changemaker Award went to the Fab 5 Venture Team out of Ayer-Shirley Regional High School. Team members Lei Lani Harmon, Claire Hefti, Gabrielle Holland, Liliana Kaeppel, and Victoria Salmon were recognized for their community service work

Parker Charter School, Operation Courtyard Cleanup

Students at Parker Charter School want to bring their courtyard back to its former glory and to get started, they held a fundraiser. Students paid to purchase strips of tape to be able to tape Mr. Sumner to the wall. These funds will be used to purchase supplies to get started on their courtyeard project.

Thank you to Reingold Elementary School's Mrs. Montemurro for letting us come in and award Great Wolf Lodge passes to a student who attended the Healthy Minds Virtual Field Trip! We brought some swag for all students but one lucky student had the passes in her special bag. Congratulations!

We hope you enjoy your trip to Great Wolf Lodge! And thank you Great Wolf Lodge for the generous donation for our event.
