Danielle was born in Houston, Texas, the beloved eldest daughter of Fred and Sheila Le Gear. The family returned to Fermoy, County Cork when she was still an infant. She was educated at the Loreto Convent in Fermoy and attained a degree in European Studies at University College Cork. In 1994 Danielle emigrated Stateside, full of ambition, hopes, and dreams.
She met the love of her life, George, in 1998 at the wedding of a mutual friend. The pair were married in 2000 and have two wonderful children, Clodagh and Jack.
Danielle and George built a fabulous home in Burlingame, and their house soon became a hub of the Peninsula ex-pat Irish community. Barbeques and parties there were always packed to the brim, and Danielle's hospitality and generosity became the stuff of legend. She was a great friend to so many people, Irish or otherwise, and her passing will leave a big hole in many hearts. She was particularly generous with her time when it came to those who lived on their own. Over the years, she would entertain on a Grand Scale at Holidays, no one was ever left out.
In times of ill health in other families, Danielle was always the first at the door with a home-cooked meal. Always welcome at such times, especially from Danielle, who was a fantastic home cook. She was a shining light to so many in good times and bad, she was the heart and soul of life's party, and she was always there with a hug or a shoulder to cry on when needed.
Danielle will be forever loved and missed by her husband George, daughter Clodagh, son Jack; her mother and father Sheila and Fred; her sister Neidra; brothers Jason and Jonathan; sisters- and brothers-in-law; uncles and aunts; nieces and nephews and the rest of her extended family, as well as her wide circle of friends in the Bay Area, Ireland and many other places around the world.
The Ryan Family would like to thank so many who have reached out and offered their support at this time. It is greatly appreciated. They also want to thank all the doctors and nurses at CPMC Davies in San Francisco and at Mills Peninsula Medical Center for their kindness, understanding, and professionalism.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1310 Bayswater Avenue, Burlingame, CA 94010. A Vigil Mass will be held immediately following at 6:00 p.m.
