Sylvania Schools Virtual Town Hall
The school district has announced a virtual town hall on February 3, 2021. Residents can submit questions in advance here:

The town hall comes after two Sylvania School Board members have resigned in recent months. The most recent resignation came on January 11 when Shannon Szyperski unexpectedly handed in her resignation during a board meeting.
On January 13, the board announced it would only accept applications for the vacant seat until January 20, an unusually short time span.
On January 14, Sylvania Schools posted the following public statement:

"The Sylvania Board of Education thanks Ms. Szyperski for her three years of service to the school board. It is unfortunate that Ms. Szyperski has become disenchanted with the Board and our school district as described in her public remarks.

As a Board of Education, we remain committed to our students, staff and community and look forward to the positive work that lies ahead. We will continue to follow our mission and focus our efforts on the best interest of all of our stakeholders."

The School Board's next regular meeting is January 25, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m, and it can be viewed online, see the school website for details: It has not been made public if a new board member will be announced at the January 25 meeting.
