Adaptive Management in Action as New Study Comes to JDSF

What does it take to build healthier, more resilient redwood forests? For CAL FIRE, it starts with research you can walk through. At Jackson Demonstration State Forest, scientists and foresters are testing new strategies in the real world through the Adaptive Management Experiment (AMEX)—the only project of its kind taking place in a redwood forest environment, where insights can be gathered directly from one of California’s most iconic ecosystems. Here, data becomes action, shaping solutions that will protect and sustain redwood forests for generations to come.

Prioritize Safety When Traveling this Season

If traveling during this Holiday period, check road conditions frequently and allow extra time. Avoid driving through flooded roadways, as water depth may be difficult to judge. Mountain travelers should be prepared for chain controls, reduced visibility, and possible road closures. Consider delaying non-essential travel during peak impacts.
