Want to be part of one of our biggest fundraisers of the year? We're still looking for volunteers for Strays on Streetcorners running from June 1-3! This is the perfect opportunity for high school students to earn their volunteer hours and is a great team building activity for businesses!

Shifts are as follows:

Thursday June 1 & Friday June 2 (these are the most needed dates)

7:15am-9:15am and 3:30pm-5:30pm

Saturday June 3

10:30am-12:30pm and 12:30pm-2:30pm

If you are interested in volunteering, please email Sarah at [email protected] with the following information:

1) What shift(s) you are available for

2) What area of the city or town in the county you live in so we know which corners would be best suited for you

3) If you can form a team to do a corner with you (3-6 people needed per corner). It's way more fun with friends so we highly encourage you to form your own team!

4) If you are interested in being a shift leader (responsible for picking up the supplies and dropping the donations and supplies off at WECHS after your shift)

5) Cell phone number

This year is already shaping up to be a bad one for ticks! Even though the warm weather is just starting, we've had animals come in with DOZENS of ticks feeding on them! Be sure to check your furry friends regularly for ticks, and use a product designed for proper tick removal to get them off. Tick removal kits are available at the Humane Society for $15.

It's also a good idea to book an appointment with your veterinarian to get your dog or cat on a product to prevent ticks from attaching in the first place (getting dogs on a heartworm prevention at the same time is a good idea!). The Humane Society offers monthly wellness days to help provide wellness care like parasite prevention for those unable to access it at a regular veterinary clinic.

MORE ABOUT OUR WELLNESS PROGRAMS

ADOPT ME! Hello, I'm Coco! I might be a senior, but don't let my age fool ya! I still have lots of energy and spunk!!

I am SUCH a sweet soul and have such a silly, loving personality. I wasn't in the best of shape when I first came into the shelter... but the humans took such great care of me and now I'm feeling all better and ready for my new home!

I am a lovely girl, though I might bark at new people at first. I just tend to be on alert, but once I sniff ya or get a yummy treat from ya, we will be buds. I LOVE food. I even take treats pretty gently. The key to my heart? Well, it's definitely food and some good loving and belly rubs from my favourite people.

I don't particularly want to share what time I have left with other animals in the home. I'd really like my last years to have your undivided attention! So please no other dogs or cats in the home.

Overall I am quite the lovely girl, and I cannot wait to find my forever home!
