Greetings!
As November settles in, the desert light softens. Everything feels a little more reflective. It’s the season when we look around at what we have, who we have, and what makes a place feel like home.
Recently, Tina* finally reached a turning point. For months she had been doing everything she could: reaching out to other community agencies, applying to Section 8, following every lead she was given.
Each time she heard, we’re doing our best, but not today.
When Tina came to Keys to Change, we helped her build a housing plan that brought her to a place she could finally call her own.
The day she stepped into her new apartment, she stepped into safety, but also into an empty room.
No bed. No table. No chair pulled out and waiting. She had a key, but nothing to build a home around it.
What she needed was simple: a basic $200 move-in kit. A table. A blanket. A lamp. A place to exhale.
