Irvine, Calif.- In its annual contest to select the outstanding pet industry retailer, Pet Product News International, the leading monthly trade newsmagazine covering the issues and trends affecting all sectors of the professional pet industry, announced Furry Face with the Outstanding Pet Services Award, which is part of the magazine's prestigious Retailer of the Year award program.
Pet Product News International announced the award in the September 2011 issue of the magazine and will profile the retailer in the July 2012 edition. The overall winner and the 11 special recognition winners are each given a seat on the Pet Product News International Retail Advisory Board as part of the award.
Located in Redlands, Calif., Furry Face is owned by Lorin Grow and caters to dogs and cats by providing a wide range of products and services for its discerning customers. Its service offerings include grooming, boarding, daycare, spa services, educational seminars and adoption days. Furry Face also actively supports the local Redlands animal shelter, as well as others, and is an active supporter of the city's acquisition of a drug-sniffing dog for the police department. The shop's mission is to provide true, accurate and specific information as it pertains to each individual animal, thereby improving the lives of both owner and pet together.
The Retailer of the Year Awards were created 19 years ago to recognize retail excellence in the pet industry. Candidates are initially selected from surveys distributed to retailers via the magazine and BowTie Inc.'s Retailer Sales force. Retailers are then reviewed and evaluated by members of Pet Product News International's award panel on such criteria as employee training practices, promotion of companion animals, involvement with professional and service organizations, innovative promotion, effective strategies in the marketplace, community impact and industry impact.
The Retailer of the Year contest is sponsored this year by World Pet Association (WPA), the oldest pet industry trade association and sponsor of the annual SuperZoo trade show.
