Testing Positive With COVID-19: Now What? 
Almost 300 community residents registered to participate in a recent DuPage County Town Hall event, with expert guidance from Dr. Jonathan Pinsky (Infectious Disease Specialist, NorthShore Edward-Elmhurst Health). This bilingual event sponsored by the Health Equity and Access Response Team/ HEART, offered practical and locally grounded guidance about how to access treatment and minimize risk after COVID-19 exposure and infection. Evolving Guidelines
The CDC now recommends that immunocompromised people ages 5 years and older (Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine recipients) or ages 18 years and older (Moderna recipients) should receive an additional primary dose 28 days after completion of the first 2-doses. Click here to learn more.

Our Vaccination Efforts Continue
What a busy few weeks! 135 guests joined a vaccine event at DuPage Children’s Museum and 167 people visited our Carol Stream offices to roll up their sleeve and take their shot. The guest of honor was our new favorite comfort dog, five year old golden retriever, Levi. Our vaccination events are a great example of the partnerships that enable our success. This week, a special thank you to Advocate Aurora Good Samaritan for providing food boxes for our patients, to LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry for bringing Levi, and always, to our friends at DuPage County Health Department.

We are thrilled to be among the 49 awardees receiving a grant from Direct Relief’s Fund for Health Equity, which mobilizes financial resources nationally for organizations focused on non-clinical interventions that affect the social determinants of health.

“This round of funding honors organizations on the front lines of their communities that are already working tirelessly to eliminate health disparities,” said Byron Scott, MD, MBA, co-chair of the Fund for Health Equity and board director of Direct Relief and chair of its Medical Advisory Council. “These funds will allow these exemplary organizations to continue innovation as they improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations across various communities in our country.
