The Center of Future Consciousness and this newsletter are going through a major transformation. These are the some of the new things being put in place:

As announced in the previous issue (May 15, 2020), Richard Trowbridge has assumed leadership responsibility for the Wisdom Page as the new Editor. Richard is reorganizing the website and doing his own updates for the Wisdom Page -- coming soon.  

Since this newsletter (which has existed for eight years) will now be the "voice" of the Center for Future Consciousness ( CFC) and its unique philosophy, and showcase new publications, essays, and events revolving around the themes of the future, the evolution of consciousness, and the key central idea of future consciousness -- with a good dose of relevant science fiction thrown in -- it makes sense to change the name of this online publication. (Last issue I stated I wasn't going to change the name but I reconsidered.) Wisdom and the Future has now evolved into Future Consciousness Insights. Relevant news items on the topic of wisdom will still be periodically included, but the center of gravity and over-arching theme of this publication is going to be " future consciousness," to be aligned in name and spirit with the Center and its philosophy.

For the CFC the expression " Future consciousness" has a two-fold meaning: 1) All of our psychological abilities and modes of experience we use in understanding and dealing with the future. 2) The possibilities of the future evolution of consciousness (or the conscious mind). We will be highlighting and discussing both of these concepts and their importance within our contemporary world within this newsletter.

Those readers familiar with my writings -- see for example " The Future Evolution of Consciousness" and " Future Consciousness: The Path to Purposeful Evolution - An Introduction" -- know that "wisdom," as I understand it, is a key holistic character virtue relevant to both of these meanings of future consciousness.

My view is that wisdom is the highest expression of heightened future consciousness (first meaning) and is the ideal that we should strive for in the further evolution of our conscious minds (second meaning). Although I think that it makes very good sense to understand the relationship between wisdom and future consciousness in this way (and I think my concept of wisdom reflects a good deal of thinking within wisdom research), this view of the nature of wisdom is distinctive and unique, informed by my theory of future consciousness.

Grounding our understanding of wisdom and its value in a future consciousness framework gives wisdom a contemporary relevance, a dynamic and evolutionary quality, and a very practical and personal meaning for how to guide our lives.
