PAE Emissions Dashboard now online

Council launched a Net Zero Emissions Plan in 2022 with the goal of reducing our corporate greenhouse gas emissions by at least 30% by 2025 and at least 60% by 2030.

We’ve already cut emissions by more than 45%, reaching our 2025 target (of 30%) ahead of schedule.

As part of our commitment to transparency on our emissions, we have just launched a public dashboard with data from the last 5 years.  Emissions tracking | Port Adelaide Enfield

Our Net Zero Emissions Plan and our targets are currently under review – stay tuned later this year for details on how you can have input into our next 5-year plan. See dashboard here

Friends of Karrawirra Parri Story

Nestled between the O-Bahn corridor and Willowbrook Road near Paradise Interchange, Friends of Karrawirra Parri is enriching the landscape by improving biodiversity and habitat for endemic species. We’ll add understory plantings to complement existing mature trees to create better habitat for small birds and native animals and help reconnect the creek to the River Torrens / Karrawirra Parri as a thriving wildlife corridor.

Over the past five months, volunteers have been hard at work removing weeds, setting boundaries, and mulching in preparation for planting at our Sunday morning working bees. This winter, more than 800 trees, shrubs, and grasses will be planted, and we’d love to have you join us! Join us here

Port Environment Forum – Shifting Salts – Future Opportunities for Dry Creek Saltfields – Thursday 16 April

Dry Creek is a low-lying coastal landscape, with complex soils, flooding influences and sea level rise to consider. While often talked about as a future housing site, this is just part of the saltfields.

Hear from Dr Emily Leyden, research lead for Shifting Salts, about future opportunities for shaping the salt fields to positively affect water quality, ecosystems and Adelaide’s northern coast for future generations. Free event, all welcome. In-person or Online. Register here

Living Shoreline Restoration at Yitpi Yartapuultiku

Since late 2024, Council staff, Friends of Port River and the University of Adelaide have been working together to restore a living shoreline at Yitpi Yartapuultiku.

Early mangrove plantings faced challenges from heat, barnacles and disturbance, but encouraging signs of natural recovery are now appearing. New mangrove seedlings have begun establishing naturally, while mud and algae are helping restore nutrients to the area.

An innovative saltmarsh restoration trial is underway with coir mats placed along the shoreline to slow water flow and support the growth of coastal plants. Some mats include a natural nutrient mix to help improve the sandy soils.

Early signs are promising, with saltmarsh plants such as Beaded Glasswort beginning to grow.

If you're visiting the shoreline, please avoid walking on the coir mats to help this important restoration project succeed.
