Aquatica Family Fun Day!
Letter from the editor
|
Our Founding Family events continued this past weekend with our Family Play Date at Aquatica. The team was ready with their sunscreen, JLJ sunglasses, and smiles as families migrated over to the BASIS San Antonio - Jack Lewis Jr. cabanas on Loggerhead Island at Aquatica Water Park. Each Founding Family received their very own pair of JLJ sunglasses and a grade specific wrist band. When they were running around the park and saw the cool JLJ purple shades and the same color wristband, the knew they found a Founding classmate!
These summer days in Texas can get quite hot, so an opportunity to come together, build community, make some memories, and of course get more than a little wet was exactly what we all needed! Smiles were definitely not in short supply!

BOSS Camp is designed to give incoming students the opportunity to learn and practice classroom procedures and expectations while getting to know their fellow classmates. Students will complete fun and engaging activities centered around our curriculum in order to prepare them for academic success. Students will learn expected school behaviors, study skills, homework and test taking strategies, organizational strategies, and BASIS culture.
Students attending BOSS Camp will be provided with a free BASIS Communication Journal (a $10 value) and will be the first to receive a BASIS San Antonio- Jack Lewis Jr. t-shirt.

Early Bird
Early Bird is our morning student program. Students may be dropped off as early as 7AM, regardless of their scheduled start time. Students will be in an unstructured learning environment monitored by education professionals. They will have the opportunity to work on their studies, access their teacher's Student Hours, and also play outside. Teachers in primary grades will gather students from Early Bird 10 minutes prior to their scheduled start times, allowing them ample time to go to their cubbies, and get prepared for the day. Early Bird is FREE for all families.
Late Bird
Late Bird is our afternoon student program. Students will be in an unstructured learning environment where they will be supported by education professionals. They may work on and be supported in finishing their homework, along with being able to play outside. Late Bird is designed for families who are not able to pick-up their students during their scheduled dismissal times, or families that are running behind on a particular day, so their students are in a safe, academic, and nurturing environment. Students may be picked up as late as 6PM.
Late Bird is a fee-based program, which runs $199 per month for the first child, and a 50% discounted rate for siblings. Daily "Drop-In" is also available for families who may not need Late-Bird on a regular basis.
Students in "Late Bird" as a result of waiting on siblings to be released due to staggered dismissal are considered to be a part of "Free Bird". These students are not charged for this service. Additionally, students participating in other activities (EXC activities, Student Hours, etc.) are not considered Late Bird.

Families have been requesting the school supply list for their Founding Students. Families can click below to see the supply list created by BASIS San Antonio - Jack Lewis Jr. Campus teachers, by grade level, as presented by Edu Kit.
These are supplies that are developed by our team and passed to Edu Kit. These are the supply lists families may use to purchase items on their own, despite it carrying the Edu Kit label on the list. We share them so families can peruse the supply list and decide between purchasing on their own, or, if preferred, use Edu Kit for convenience purposes.
Please note that the items marked "KIT" are necessary supplies and items marked "GRADE" are appreciated donations to the school supply (Clorox wipes, tissues, white board markers, etc.).
BASIS San Antonio - Jack Lewis Jr. Campus seeks to provide the Edu Kit option purely as a convenience for parents and does not benefit from families using this option.

EduKits
Dread the thought of back-to school shopping? Wish there was a convenient and easy option? EduKit is the solution!
We have partnered with Edukits to provide an easy option for families to secure the necessary school supplies for the upcoming year. Each Edukit comes complete with school supplies, by grade level, so families can rest assured their student will have what they need.
Edukits will be delivered to our school and can be picked up by families during Welcome Week.
|
|
All orders must be submitted no later than July 27th by 11:59PM.
**While we apologize for the short turn-around, the Edukit team is under a tight deadline in order to secure supplies and provide them to families**

Blackbaud (Formerly Smart for Charters)
|
|
At BASIS Texas Charter Schools we seek to minimize cash transactions for purchases. This serves to create efficiency with our processes and ensures financial integrity.
As such, each BASIS San Antonio - Jack Lewis Jr. Family will receive a Blackbaud account (formerly Smart for Charters). This will serve as the primary POS for our campus should a family incur a charge. Charges we would use Blackbaud for include items such as Late Bird monthly charges, BOSS Camp fees, etc. This platform provides a convenient and safe portal for families to make payments should they be necessary.
We ask that all Founding Jack Lewis Jr. families take a moment to register for a safe and secure Blackbaud account.
**Please note that if you have multiple
