June Update

Updates are being made to our CSAC collection and reporting process. New student-level links for TUHSD and SUSD are up and can be found in the slide deck linked below. New links for NUSD are coming soon.

In light of many questions being asked about access to sensitive data at the federal level, we recommend taking advantage of the following resources particularly in supporting undocumented students and immigrant families:

CSAC Memo: Financial Aid Applications for Mixed-Status Students and Families: This memo provides practitioners and financial aid professionals with detailed information on how to guide mixed-status families through choosing whether to fill out the FAFSA or the CADAA.
CSAC Memo: Upholding the Dream For All Students: This guidance highlights the ways the CADAA keeps students and families safe and reaffirms California’s commitment to making college accessible for all students. The CADAA is available for undocumented students AND students from mixed-status families.
Communication Principals: For supporting Undocumented Students & MSF: a guide on how to interact and engage undocumented students and students from mixed-status families.
Resource Guide: Advising Undocumented Students & Students from Mixed-Status Families in CA: has sample talking points and best practices for advising students, and questions to help students from Mixed-Status Families Assess their risk and comfort with submitting the FAFSA.

Success Network Updates

Tam Unified High School District (TUHSD)

The Tamalpais High School Success Networks have wrapped up their final meetings of the year and have begun planning next year's priorities and goals. Areas that have emerged for each group are: fostering belonging for students of color and English language learners, greater parent engagement, timely interventions through emails to offer academic support, improved connection and access to resources, and effectively supporting the 8th to 9th grade transition.

Shoreline Unified School District (SUSD)

The Tomales Success Network wrapped up the year with strong attendance from community partners and an interest in greater coordination and alignment of resources for next year.

Novato Unified School District (NUSD)

FUTURE READY UPDATES

Thank you to everyone who attended our last Future Ready Meeting of the year! As a recap, here is what each team discussed:

Financial Aid: The team discussed plans for next year which includes incorporating opt-out forms in data collection processes, strengthened partnerships with nonprofits such as 10,000 Degrees and programs like CalKids, and improved communication and supports for students and families who have concerns completing the FAFSA.
A-G for All: The team discussed possible directions for next year, including continuing to focus on improving A-G access for students by engaging with more decision makers, including School Board members and revisiting the composition for the group.
