Happy “Maycember”!

It’s hard to believe May is already here and the school year is quickly coming to a close. Over the past several weeks, we celebrated two special milestones in our arena—the Incoming 9th Grade Pinning Ceremony and, a couple of weeks later, our Seniors’ College Decision Day. It was a meaningful full-circle moment to first welcome our newest class into the Viking community and then celebrate our seniors as they shared their post-graduation plans and the colleges they will attend. These moments truly capture the spirit and journey of our school community.

As you plan for summer, I encourage you to explore the many camps we’re offering for incoming 3rd–8th grade students. Our athletic programs will each host camps, our theater department is preparing a full student production of Annie Jr., and there are many other opportunities for students to get involved.

My own children have attended camps on the NCHS campus for years and have truly enjoyed building friendships with students from other schools. These programs are also a wonderful way for our coaches and directors to begin forming relationships with your students and family. I highly recommend taking advantage of these opportunities—consider signing up with a group of friends for an even more memorable experience.

As we look ahead to next school year, there is so much to be excited about. For current 7th grade families, please note that NCHS registration opens in the fall, so preparing for high school starts soon. I encourage you to schedule a personalized tour, attend an NCHS Night at your school, or join us for a Coffee, Talk, & Tour event on campus as those dates become available at the beginning of the school year.

Applications also remain open for partner school 8th grade families interested in joining the Viking community for the 2026–2027 school year. Tuition assistance is available, and Nolan Catholic proudly participates in the Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program, helping make a Catholic education more accessible for families.

For all families, please keep an eye out for opportunities to engage with our programs and community in the months ahead.

Wishing you a wonderful finish to the school year—see you on campus soon!

BBQ Vikings Compete at State

The heat was on at the inaugural TAPPS State BBQ Championship—and our Vikings showed up strong.

Team 1 earned 6th place in Grilled Cheese, while Team 2 placed 10th in Grilled Cheese and brought home an impressive 3rd place finish in Dutch Oven Dessert with their banana foster–inspired upside-down cake.

We’re proud of these students for representing Nolan Catholic at the first-ever championship and proving that Viking talent extends far beyond the classroom.

College Decision Day 2026

The first of many senior celebration events is officially underway!

On Friday, we celebrated College Decision Day with a pep rally–style event honoring the Class of 2026. One by one, seniors were called to the stage by the colleges and universities they’ve committed to—sharing their next steps with the entire student body in a moment full of pride and excitement.

The Class of 2026 continues to accomplish incredible things:

  • 158 students in the graduating class
  • 699 college acceptances
  • 56 colleges and universities represented
  • 196 scholarship offers awarded to 96 seniors
  • More than $17.5 million in scholarship awards

Our seniors are heading to an impressive range of colleges and universities across the country, including top public flagships, nationally recognized private institutions, and U.S. service academies.

Members of the Class of 2026 will attend schools such as University of Notre Dame, The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, The Ohio State University, and Pennsylvania State University.

Students were also accepted to distinguished institutions such as Santa Clara University, Creighton University, and William & Mary.

In addition, several seniors have earned appointments to prestigious U.S. service academies, including the United States Naval Academy, United States Air Force Academy, and United States Coast Guard Academy—a remarkable achievement that reflects both academic excellence and a commitment to leadership and service.

It was a meaningful way to kick off graduation season and recognize the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our seniors.

Viking Baseball on the Rise
The Vikings closed out a strong 2026 baseball season with a third-place finish in district play under the direction of first-year head coach Avery Booth.

Nolan Catholic battled throughout the spring and carried that momentum into the postseason, where the Vikings delivered one of the most exciting moments of the year with a walk-off victory over El Paso Cathedral in the Bi-District Round. In extra innings, the Vikings came through in the bottom of the 8th to punch their ticket to the Area Round.

The postseason run came to an end against Bishop Lynch in a tightly contested 4-1 game, but the fight and competitiveness shown throughout the playoff run reflected the growth of the program throughout the season.

With strong leadership, key returning players, and valuable postseason experience gained this year, the future looks bright for Viking Baseball.
