G.O.B.: Bayshore Park (Former Par 3)
Project Update - June 30, 2021
Project Benefits
Using General Obligation Bond funding, the former Par 3 Golf Course will be developed into a passive park for community enjoyment and enrichment. Located at 2795 Prairie Avenue, the new park displays the city's commitment to green space while serving as a model of sustainability, stewardship and resilience.

The project will convert the 19.4 acre former golf course into a new community park that will incorporate environmental remediation and a central lake. It will include open meadows and informal open field areas, site grading, a pavilion, six tennis courts with restroom facilities, a children’s playground, dog park, boardwalk and pathways. The park will include new security lighting, a vita course and fitness cluster, butterfly garden, linear water feature and parking lot. The park will contain many resilient improvements, including a stormwater retention system and pervious pavement.
What’s Happening
The project is in the permitting phase with Miami-Dade County Environmental Resources Management (DERM) and the City of Miami Beach Building Department. Final environmental remediation reports have been submitted to DERM for approval.

The Designer has submitted a construction cost estimate that exceeds the project budget. As such, the consultant is reviewing and modifying some of the park elements to bring the estimated construction costs down. A funding shortfall still exists and the city administration has presented recommendations to the Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee (FERC) with respect to how best to close the budget gap.

In addition, the city is coordinating internally to adjust and upgrade various utility lines located within the park.

Following DERM and building permit approvals, the city will prepare bid documents and commence the bidding process to hire a contractor and begin construction.
