G.O.B. Bayshore Park Advisory

Project Advisory: Friday, January 19, 2024

What’s Happening

Next week, the contractor will commence the installation of concrete piles in the ground to build the lake, pathway, and lake overlooks. Residents in the vicinity should anticipate machinery-related noise during the installation process.

Pile installations will take place from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to minimize noise disruptions in the evening. This phase of work is estimated to take about six weeks to finish, barring any unexpected circumstances.

Project Overview

The Bayshore Park project is underway at the former Par 3 Golf Course at 2795 Prairie Ave. Once completed, this project will provide a passive park for Miami Beach residents and visitors to enjoy.

During construction, all equipment will be stored in the park. The project site is fenced in and closed to the public.

Timeline

This project will take approximately two years to complete. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The contractor has been approved to perform weekend work this Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Please know that this schedule may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Project Benefits

Funded by the city's General Obligation Bond (G.O.B.) funding, the new park will become an example of the city's commitment to green space while serving as a model of sustainability, stewardship and resilience.

The 19.4-acre park will include environmental remediation as well as a central lake with boardwalk. The park design consist of open meadows and informal open field areas, along with site grading, a pavilion, six courts marked for both tennis and pickle ball, restrooms, children's playground, dog park, jogging trail and pathways. It will also include a Vita Course and fitness cluster, butterfly garden, linear water feature, parking lot, walkway lighting and security camera systems.

This park is designed with resilient components such as the central lake for stormwater retention, pervious pavement, motion censored walkway lighting among other resiliency enhancements. The scope also includes replacement of the large water and sewer lines traversing the park.
