G.O. Bond 23 Street Streetscape Improvements

Notice Date: Thursday, May 14, 2026

What's Happening?

Stormwater drainage system installation has now been completed and crews are currently conducting system testing. In the coming weeks, work will include the installation of pedestrian pushbuttons at the intersection of Collins Avenue and 22 Street, as well as new lighting along 22 Street east of Collins Avenue. Traffic signal improvements at 23 Street and Park Avenue are ongoing and crews will continue installing concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters throughout the project area.

Upcoming construction activities will also involve milling and resurfacing the streets and installing a raised intersection at 22 Street and Park Avenue. Approved traffic‑management measures will be implemented wherever travel lanes are reduced to maintain public safety and minimize disruptions.

Timeline

Construction hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents and visitors should expect construction to be completed by early summer 2026.

Please know that this schedule may change due to weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Impacts

A detailed traffic plan, developed in accordance with FDOT standards, is implemented in each segment while work is ongoing. These plans will ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians throughout construction.

During the course of this work, no more than one lane will be closed at a time, on any given roadway, in order to minimize disruption to traffic flow and ensure continued accessibility. Work may be performed simultaneously in more than one segment.

What to Expect

  • Temporary work zones and lane closures may occur within the project area. Please follow detours and signage for alternative routes.
  • Pedestrian traffic may be temporarily rerouted during construction. Please be aware of detour signs for alternative pedestrian pathways.
  • Construction activities may generate noise from equipment and machinery. Every effort will be made to minimize any disruptions to the neighborhood.
