G2E: Upwards of 25,000 attend the gaming industry’s Las Vegas showcase

The Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2022, presented by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and organized by RX, returned to Las Vegas this week for a fully in-person event, highlighting the gaming industry’s current strength and dynamic future. Nearly 25,000 global gaming professionals, including suppliers, operators, and media, gathered at The Venetian Expo for four days of product exhibitions and debuts, education sessions, keynote speeches and discussions, and networking events.

Sightline Payments’ Project 250 aims to seed cashless payment technology across the country

In order to achieve widespread adoption of cashless payments in the gaming industry, casinos need to establish an infrastructure. Last week, Sightline Payments announced Project 250, an investment of up to $300 million in facilitating digital-payments technology at 250,000 slot machines across the country within 36 months. It’s a huge venture and arguably a gamble by the Las Vegas-based based company.

Loto-Québec ‘exploring’ sports betting at casinos and gaming halls

The only legal provider of sports betting in Quebec says it is looking into taking event wagers at its casinos and gaming halls in la belle province. A spokesperson for Loto-Québec confirmed the government-owned corporation’s interest in both in-person wagering at casinos and online sports betting, the latter of which the company offers via its Mise-o-jeu+ sportsbook. Loto-Québec also offers a version of Mise-o-jeu that can be played at lottery retailers in the province, Canada’s second-most populous.

SciPlay Corporation on Thursday announced the appointment of Jim Bombassei as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary, effective December 1. As CFO, Bombassei will oversee the company’s financial operations and work closely with the leadership team and business units on strategy and driving growth and value creation.

Massachusetts gaming regulators contract with GLI, others to aid with sports betting

As it tries to launch a legal sports wagering industry by late January, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission is calling in reinforcements. Executive Director Karen Wells filled commissioners in Thursday on the variety of consulting arrangements the commission has made.

Indiana: Four Winds Casinos updates construction progress at South Bend site

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and Four Winds Casinos gave an update on construction progress at Four Winds South Bend, which is now nearly 80% complete. Crews are currently working on an expansion of the casino resort, which includes a 23-story hotel tower with 317 rooms, a spa, convention area, café, and more.

Illinois: Arlington Heights Plan Commission recommends zoning change for Chicago Bears’ proposed sports wagering facility

The Arlington Heights Plan Commission agreed Wednesday night to recommend that the Village Board approve amending the zoning for the Arlington International Racecourse site to allow for a sports betting facility there — as long as it’s part of a professional sports stadium.

Wisconsin: Majority of Kenosha County residents support Hard Rock casino in city, per tribe-commissioned poll

Kenosha County residents favor a Menominee Indian Tribe and Hard Rock International casino by a more than two-to-one margin, with 60% of local residents supporting the project and 25% opposed, according to the results of a recent poll commissioned by the tribe’s gaming commission.

Las Vegas: For the first time, ‘Legends’ going all-Elvis at the Tropicana

Elvis never headlined the Tropicana. But a handful of Elvis tribute artists are about to. “Back in the Building,” the new show from“Legends In Concert,” will run from Nov. 4 to Dec. 30. This is the first “Legends” show in the company’s 39-year-history to ever focus specifically on Elvis, or any single artist.

Canada lifted its ban on single-game sports betting. What do fans think of the endless gambling commercials?

“I absolutely hate seeing it everywhere.” “It’s excessive and weird.” “It’s making sports broadcasts unwatchable.” Those are some of the many, many comments made about sports betting commercials on Reddit’s hockey community during the 2022 NHL playoffs. At least, those are some of the polite ones. Canada lifted its ban on single-game sports betting in August 2021. Nine provinces now offer government-run online betting (Saskatchewan is putting the finishing touches on its service), and in April 2022 Ontario welcomed private platforms into the marketplace. Interest rates won’t stop Entain from acquiring, CEO says

Entain chief executive Jette Nygaard-Andersen has said high interest rates will not stop the business from making new acquisitions, and may even “open up new doors”. Nygaard-Andersen spoke on an earnings call after Entain published a third-quarter earnings update. Revenue was up 2% year-on-year for the group, thanks to both record customer numbers and a favourable impact from currency movements.

UK: Rank Group share price falls 10% on £34M energy bill

Rank Group, the owner of Mecca Bingo, saw its shares fall as much as 10% on Thursday after it admitted its energy bill is expected to rise to £34m ($38m) for the current year. The bingo hall and casino firm said costs have continued to soar, with its new energy forecast up from the £23m bill last year.

Rivalry momentum continues as revenue doubles in robust Q3

Esports betting platform Rivalry has announced that revenue grew 93% year-on-year from $3.7m to $7.1m in a robust Q3 performance driven by strong esports growth. The company’s revenue performance for the three-month period ending 30 September represents an all-time high, increasing 35% sequentially from $5.3m in Q2 2022.
