Parish Newsletter April 2019
Dear Members of our Guardian Angels Family,

The events we commemorate during Holy Week, Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, further our reconciliation among ourselves and with our God. And so, we encourage you to continue your spiritual Lenten journey by participating in our Holy Week Services.

May Jesus’ gift of peace at Easter bring every happiness to you and to your loved ones. May you understand fully Jesus’ love for you, and may your life reflect that love to all you meet.

To you and yours every joy and blessing of this Easter Season.

Sincerely Yours in the Risen Christ,
Fr. Thomas M. King
Fr. David Sunberg

There is plenty of food for families to eat-in or carry out. Fried and baked fish, shrimp, cheese pizza, mac-n-cheese, french fries, cole slaw, and baked goods.  Senior dining available for parishioners in Room B. There is also a craft corner for children. All crafts are $1 or less; please bring cash to the craft corner.   Children must be attended by an adult at all times.
New PC Gym Floor To Be Installed This Summer
Fr. King and Parish Pastoral Council are pleased to announce that a new gym floor will be installed in the PC gymnasium this summer!

The original floor was showing signs of disrepair and was brought to the school’s attention by many parents, faculty, students and school guests. A committee was formed through the Athletic Boosters in the Fall of 2018 to assess the situation and develop potential solutions. Knowing that our Parish Center floor is used for many athletic and non-athletic events, the committee found a solution that provides a world class platform for the multi-purpose use of this facility.

The committee met with the administration, maintenance staff of the parish and school and a number of organizations, including PTA, Music Boosters, Angel Follies, and EdFaith, which also includes representatives from Youth Ministry, School Council, and the Religious Education Department. The EdFaith Council’s unanimous recommendation of the project allowed the committee to present to Fr. King and Parish Pastoral Council. After careful consideration, the Parish Pastoral Council and Father King endorsed and approved the project.

This project is made possible by the passionate support of a handful of private donors who were passionate about funding this specific project. None of the funding comes from the school or parish budgets.

We are excited about enhancing a major facility of our parish and look forward to its debut in the Fall of 2019!
CCD Changes for 2019-2020 School Year
Guardian Angels CCD program will be changing for the 2019-2020 school year. Beginning September 2019, CCD classes will be offered Sunday mornings from 8:30-9:45 throughout the school year.

If you have questions or would like more information, please email  Kay Froehlich .
Peanut Butter Ministry Chair Needed
The Peanut Butter Ministry is looking for someone to chair the group. This person would help make the sandwiches every Tuesday morning, keep the driver and member schedules up-to-date, be available to deliver the sandwiches downtown and the baked goods to Newtown if the regularly scheduled driver does not show up, be sure there is enough peanut butter in our storeroom, write thank-you notes to people who donate money, and be sure everything runs smoothly, especially when someone cannot deliver or pick up the bread or the baked goods. If interested, please email Carol Cloud .
40 Days for Life
Over the past years Guardian Angels parish has volunteered to cover two of the 40 Days for Life event where we have someone continually praying from 7:00am to 7:00pm at Planned Parenthood’s abortion facility. Many of our working parishioners try to cover our early and late hours and those available during the day fill the hours in between.

Please consider joining us as many of our “regulars” can no longer participate mainly for health reasons. Sign up at   40daysforlife.com/cincinnati   or on the bulletin boards in the gathering space.  The next GA date is Wednesday, April 10th . Questions? Problems signing up? Contact  Luann Rowekamp A flyer for the campaign is attached
Family Rosary Each Thursday
Every Thursday, our parish hosts Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 3:00-9:00pm in the church. We are looking for individuals, families, classes or other groups who would be interested in leading our Family Rosary, which begins our time of prayer. Anyone who is interested may sign up using this link .

News From Guardian Angels School
March Madness Shootout For Missions

Earlier this week our 6th graders participated in our annual March Madness Shootout for Missions. This fundraising drive requires our students to ask for pledges; either per shot made or a flat donation. Students have 60 seconds to make as many baskets as possible. In previous years, the fundraising effort has brought in up to $4,000. The money collected goes to charities Guardian Angels supports which includes St Vincent de Paul, Catholics United for the Poor, Catholic Relief Services, and Glenmary Home Missioners. Thank you to everyone who supports this effort!
You can see pictures of the event, on the Guardian Angels Facebook Page.
