Message From Father Angi
Advent is a time to renew and deepen our relationship with God. It is a time of patient waiting for God, prayerful and trusting waiting for God. Because the season of Advent is so important, the Church gives us four weeks to celebrate it. Celebrate Advent with your heart, it is an opportunity to step back from that which preoccupies and distracts us daily and make a straight way for the Lord to receive the special grace God has planned for you this Advent.
The most important people in our world are not those who are in positions of power but those who have powerful positions in our personal lives. The gift of John the Baptist to us in our gospel today is that he gave voice to the Word which stands forever. The Eternal Word of God remains with us until the end of time. May our prayer today and every day of our lives be: “Come, Lord Jesus.”
This time of year is always the Collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious. We remember those religious men and women who have served us so faithfully throughout their lives in our parishes and schools. This is an opportunity to remember the sister who taught us math or the brother who assisted priests in their parishes. In our family of parishes are the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi and you will often see Brother Ed in our family of parishes and his retired community members. To them we say, “thank you!” for their service to us. Thank you for your generosity to this collection.
Please join us for our Family of Parishes Reconciliation Service on Tuesday, December 9 at 7:00 pm at Guardian Angels. Also, don’t forget the Holy Day of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, December 8 with Masses at 7:30 am (GA), 8:15 am (IHM School Mass), 9:00 am (GA School Mass), 12 noon (IHM), 6:15 pm (SJF) and 7:00 pm (GA).

Great news for anyone who pays Ohio income tax and supports Guardian Angels
We have many students at Guardian Angels who benefit from scholarships provided by the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF). Ohio taxpayers who donate to the CEF may be able to claim a dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return, up to $750 per donor. For more information, click here.
We hope you consider a donation before the end of the year and choose "Guardian Angels School (Cincinnati)(C00160)" from the drop-down when prompted.
Parishioner and tax expert, Brien Dulle, is donating. Here's what he had to say. "Supporting the CEF is a no-brainer for me for two reasons. As a graduate of GA that is also sending my daughters to the school, I want to invest in the education that our children receive. Secondly, there's no extra money out of pocket since I can claim a dollar-for-dollar Ohio tax credit."

SGG Advent Season Holy Hour of Prayer
Praying together as a community is a wonderful way to honor Jesus during Advent this year. Join us each Monday during Advent at IHM at for a Holy Hour of prayer, with exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary and Vespers prayer. Prayer begins at 7pm on Monday December 1 and continues each Monday through December leading up to Christmas.

Congratulations to our Newly Commissioned Cantors
Several students at Guardian Angels were commissioned as cantors. During the commissioning the students consecrated their voices “to God, to sing his praises and to proclaim his glory.” Each cantor received a blessed St. Cecilia medal and cross necklace symbolizing their new leadership and also gave each a hymnal telling each cantor, “May the chants, hymns and songs found in its pages help you to lift your heart and mind to God when you sing your praises to him.”

Cookie Ministry
Thank you for your donations to the Cookie Ministry this year. The Peanut Butter group really appreciates your support. They minister to the needy at St. Francis Seraph Soup Kitchen all year, so your donations over the summer are much needed. They put together a lunch sack on Tuesday mornings, so your donations should be dropped off on Mondays in the rectory. Your donation of cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats, etc adds a sweet treat to the lunches our peanut butter group makes for the needy of the St. Francis Seraph Soup Kitchen. Treats can be homemade or store-bought, but should be individually packaged (2 cookies per bag). They are also in need of juice boxes or pouches and prepackaged snacks like chips, pretzels, cheez-its, etc.
If you would like to help put together the lunches or drive them down to St. Francis Seraph, contact Kathy Hosking at 513-232-0958. Thank you for your help!

Christmas Cookies
St. Gregory Family of Parishes will be collecting home baked, gooey circles of goodness for the inmates and officers at the Hamilton Co. corrections facilities. This is a small way of sharing the love of Christ with inmates, residents, and staff working on Christmas Day, a lonely day in prison. Cookies will be picked up from the church offices at IHM, GA and SJF on Wednesday December 17th at noon. Pray as you bake and make this a family event. Volunteers are needed to pack the cookies in zip lock bags on the 18th and 19th. If you are able to volunteer to pack, please call Sherrie Heyse at 513-325-5338.
Instructions and Suggestions:
1. Baking and Packing Instructions:
a. Cookies should be approximately 2-3” in diameter for packing purposes
b. Allow cookies to dry completely before packing and delivering
c. Pack cookies flat, in a protective box with wax paper or cardboard between layers
d. Do not put cookies in plastic bags
e. Tins and containers cannot be stored or returned (please do not send us valuable containers you would like to receive back).
2. The following cookies have been met with great success:
a. Sugar cookies with sprinkles, decorated cut sugar cookies, colored M&Ms, chocolate chip, frosted cookies, oatmeal with raisins or craisins, etc.
b. Peanut butter, pecan, macadamia nut, etc. are approved since we cannot guarantee any cookies are food-allergy safe
c. Please avoid baking anything that could create jealousy between inmates (candy, fudge, etc.).

Sensory-Friendly Mass at St. John Fisher First Sundays of the Month
St. Gregory the Great Family of Parishes and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Office for Persons with Disabilities offers a Sensory-Friendly Mass on the first Sunday of the month at St. John Fisher. All are welcome! A special invitation is extended to any person with autism, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, dementia, or sensory issues. These Masses may include lower lighting, quiet music and/or no music, and shorter more literal homilies; however, the biggest difference is that we try to create an environment free of stigma. We encourage families and individuals to get up and move if needed, to bring alternative seating, fidgets or noise cancelling headphones, and to participate in the liturgy just as they are.
