Parish Newsletter January 2020
Join Us For Guardian Angels School Open House on Jan 26th
Our Guardian Angels School Open House is scheduled for Sunday, January 26th  from 1:00-3:00pm. This is a great opportunity to meet other GA families and teachers, talk with administrators and help us kick off Catholic Schools Week. You can also visit with our Religious Education staff in the undercroft to learn more about Bible Camp, Camp GAudeo, the youth ministry and vocation awareness programs coming up in 2020. You can RSVP for Open House here . Enrollment for kindergarten through eighth grade for 2020-2021 opens at our Open House . Open House kicks off Catholic Schools Week; this year our theme is "GA is Family." Catholic Schools Week is a wonderful time to thank God for the many blessings He gives us as well as show our gratitude to you for choosing Guardian Angels and trusting us to enrich your children’s lives! We also thank the parish for supporting our school!
Preschool and pre-kindergarten registration and re-enrollment is open now to current Guardian Angels School and Parish families. We absolutely expect all preschool and pre-kindergarten classes to fill again this year. Current GA school and parish families have first priority in registering and re-enrolling but we recommend completing the process as soon as possible to ensure a spot. Last year our preschool and pre-k classes filled very quickly. There are only 9 open spots available for preschool and 4 for pre-k for the 20-21 school year. If there are spots available after this early enrollment period, we will open registration up to the community at our school Open House event on January 26th. At that point, spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Preschool registration materials are available on the preschool page of the school website.
Scholarships Open to Guardian Angels School Families
Guardian Angels School will begin accepting scholarships provided through the EdChoice Scholarship Program and the EdChoice Expansion Program for the 2020-2021 school year.

The EdChoice Scholarship Program provides state-funded scholarships to students who live in neighborhoods for designated public schools (the designation includes specific schools, not entire districts). The state has expanded this list of designated schools to include several local public schools. Families who live in neighborhoods covered by these individual schools can apply for a $4,650 scholarship to use towards tuition at a private school (Guardian Angels). It is important to note that this scholarship is only for incoming students who do not currently attend a private school. However, incoming kindergarten students of current Guardian Angels school families (living in one of these designated public school areas) can apply for the scholarship. Click here for the complete list of designated public schools.

The EdChoice Expansion Scholarship is an income-based program for families in grades KDG-6 who have an income at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Families of students currently enrolled at Guardian Angels can apply for this scholarship, unlike the traditional scholarship described above.

The priority application period for the EdChoice scholarships begins February 1 and concludes April 15 . Application forms/materials will be made available by the Ohio Department of Education at the end of January. We will make these available in the school office and also on our school website. Ahead of time, families of students intending to apply for the EdChoice scholarship must first be accepted to Guardian Angels School based upon our admission standards.

The Catholic Education Foundation for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for 2020-2021 elementary school (K-8) tuition assistance grants. The Catholic Education Foundation tuition aid program became a reality for the 2017-2018 school year through the One Faith, One Hope, One Love Capital Campaign. Due to the generosity of local parishes, including ours, the Catholic Education Foundation will again be able to offer over $2,000,000 in financial aid! I strongly encourage families to apply for tuition assistance through the Catholic Education Foundation. All families who plan to apply for financial assistance from Guardian Angels must first apply for assistance from this source. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2020. Last year, over $20,000 was given to Guardian Angels families from the Catholic Education Foundation Tuition Assistance Fund.

To learn more and apply, please visit the archdiocese's tuition assistance page .

If you have any questions, please contact our school principal, Corey Stoops .
