Message From Father Angi
On Saturday, March 14 at the 3:30 Mass at GA, we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. The Anointing of the Sick is the sacrament that is received by those who are ill or suffering. By the sacred anointing and the prayer of the priest, the whole Church commends those who are sick to Christ. The sick person receives the Holy Spirit’s gifts of strength, faith, peace, and courage, and his or her suffering is united with the suffering of Christ for the building up of the Church. Through the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, the Church carries out Jesus’ mission of compassion and healing for the sick. The one who is ill can also be a minister to others. By uniting their suffering to Christ, those who are sick can be signs of faith and witnesses of Christ’s Resurrection to the entire community.
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is both “a liturgical and a communal celebration.” In the family home, hospital, or church, members of the Body of Christ gather for the sacramental rite led by a priest. The Penitential Rite followed by the Liturgy of the Word and sacramental anointing of the sick can inspire and comfort both those who are ill and their family and friends who are gathered. Many parishes have communal celebrations at which many persons receive the sacrament. These sacramental celebrations are a “source of strength amid pain and weakness, hope amid despair” and a “joyful encounter” for the entire community. Anointing with sacred oil is a sign of blessing by the Holy Spirit of the one who is sick. The Oil of the Sick, which receives a different blessing from the Chrism oil used during Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders, recalls the community’s sharing of the Holy Spirit and the sick person’s connection to the entire Body of Christ and Communion of Saints.
As a Christian Community, we are called to comfort, pray for and with, and be in solidarity with all who are sick or suffering. Caring for those who suffer is not a burden, but a gift. Those who care for the sick do holy and important work; they walk with Christ’s suffering people and in doing so, serve Christ himself. Those who minister to the sick and who work to secure decent health care for all become “the living sign of Jesus Christ and his Church in showing love towards the sick and suffering.” The sacrament reminds us that each person is made in the image of God and has dignity that remains unchanged, no matter what the body suffers. The ministry of those who are sick is a powerful witness to the fact that human dignity is intrinsic and does not increase or decrease based on a person’s physical state or abilities. This is why the Church works to protect the life and dignity of the person at every stage of life and why the Church works to secure access to decent health care for all. I thank our St. Gregory the Great Health Ministries for working to make this liturgy a special moment for our brothers and sisters who are suffering.

Spam Emails
Please note, there has been an uptick of spam emails, phone calls, and text messages. Neither Fr. Steve Angi, Fr. Aaron Hess, nor Fr. Tom King would ask you for a donation over email or for a donation to be given via gift cards to the parish. Please never click on a link sent unsolicited by their names without checking the email address and verifying they sent it to you. If you happen to receive a suspicious message, please don't reply or engage. Instead, please contact any of our parish offices. Thank you for your vigilance and for helping protect our parish community.

Penance Service - March 24
The St. Gregory the Great family is offering a parish-wide Lenten Reconciliation Service at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 24th at Immaculate Heart of Mary. We invite everyone to begin anew with souls nourished from the gift of forgiveness God offers us all. If it has been a long time since you have received this sacrament, there is no need to be nervous! You don’t need to memorize any words to receive Christ’s healing gift, though you are welcome to use the prayers set forth by the Church if that makes you more comfortable. Most importantly, remember that this is a sacrament of healing – it is not to cause shame, but to help you openly receive God’s sacramental grace. To see an Examination of Conscience with the Beatitudes, click here.

Bid N' Buy Chair Needed!
The annual GA Bid N Buy needs a chair to keep the tradition alive and the fundraiser running. This online auction is our parish's largest fundraiser, with proceeds providing support for our parish and its PSOs, including Guardian Angels School.
This year, we have the ability to move the timing of the fundraiser to better serve our community and the committee's needs.
A chair (or co-chairs), along with committee members are needed to plan and execute this event. This is a great way to get involved, meet new people, and give back to the GA community!
If you're interested in chairing the event in 2026, please contact Kay Froehlich.

40 Days for Life: Help Save Lives!
Christians throughout the tri-state are invited to take part in the International 40 Days for Life Campaign from February 18th through March 29th. In addition to 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion in America, please consider volunteering to pray outside of Planned Parenthood’s facility at 2314 Auburn Avenue for one or more hours during the 40 days and spread the word to others about this important life-saving effort.
The St. Gregory the Great family has committed to stand in prayer at Planned Parenthood’s facility on the first day Saturday, March 14th and Wednesday, March 25th, from 7 am - 7 pm. Thank You for Supporting Guardian Angels through the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF)
Our GA family generously donated, placing us near the top in the diocese in contributions to the CEF-SGO. We have many students who benefit from CEF scholarships. Families interested in learning more about financial assistance for Guardian Angels School, can learn more here.
Ohio taxpayers who donate to the CEF may be able to claim a dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return, up to $750 per donor. For more information, click here.
We hope you consider a donation before filing your 2025 taxes and choose "Guardian Angels School (Cincinnati)(C00160)" from the drop-down when prompted.
Parishioner and tax expert, Brien Dulle, is donating. Here's what he had to say. "Supporting the CEF is a no-brainer for me for two reasons. As a graduate of GA that is also sending my daughters to the school, I want to invest in the education that our children receive. Secondly, there's no extra money out of pocket since I can claim a dollar-for-dollar Ohio tax credit."

Cookie Ministry
Thank you for your donations to the Cookie Ministry this year. The Peanut Butter group really appreciates your support. They minister to the needy at St. Francis Seraph Soup Kitchen all year, so your donations over the summer are much needed. They put together a lunch sack on Tuesday mornings, so your donations should be dropped off on Mondays in the rectory. Your donation of cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats, etc adds a sweet treat to the lunches our peanut butter group makes for the needy of the St. Francis Seraph Soup Kitchen. Treats can be homemade or store-bought, but should be individually packaged (2 cookies per bag). They are also in need of juice boxes or pouches and prepackaged snacks like chips, pretzels, cheez-its, etc.
If you would like to help put together the lunches or drive them down to St. Francis Seraph, contact Kathy Hosking at 513-232-0958. Thank you for your help!
