A Message From Fr King As Our 2nd Graders Receive Their First Holy Communion This Weekend

You won't believe this, or maybe you will, but in my breviary, the Liturgy of the Hours Prayer Book, you will find among a number of priesthood ordination Holy cards one First Holy Communion Holy Card that reads, "A remembrance of your First Holy Communion. God loves you dear Thomas. Sr. Barbara Ann. May 2, 1954." I can remember Sister telling us second graders that not only will we receive God, the Body and Blood of Jesus, but it will be one of the very few times that we would ever be permitted to enter through the communion rail gates and into the sanctuary unless we became a server or a priest. How we were to kneel at the top step before Fr. Gramann with hands PERFECTLY folded (no communion in the hand in those days) and welcome Jesus into our hearts. It was wonderful. It is wonderful.

What an everlasting gift that you as parents give to your beloved daughter or son on their First Holy Communion Day. What a blessing you are to them and they to you and to our entire Guardian Angels Family.

So grateful and blessed am I to be honored by God to give His Body and Blood to these beautiful children, His children, your children, our children. Like the Holy Eucharist itself, these children are a precious child of God's love. Their smiles, their singing, their joy will fill the whole church with love. May God always keep them in His loving care.

Principal Stoops Awarded St. John the Baptist Award
Congratulation to Mr. Stoops who was awarded the St John the Baptist Award from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati this week! The St. John the Baptist Award is given each year to a principal who truly “sticks his neck out” to introduce new and innovative programs into his school. Regardless of whether the program succeeds or, like St. John the Baptist, the principal becomes a martyr, this award recognizes courageous leadership and a willingness to consider new ideas. The recipient of the award is determined by the Catholic School Office with includes the superintendent and regional directors. Mr. Stoops is currently serving his seventh year as the principal of Guardian Angels School!
