Message From Father Angi
On this Respect Life Sunday, it is my pleasure to introduce to the St. Gregory the Great Family of Parishes our new Director of Communications, Abigail Rafael. Abigal is currently working in Media and Public Relations for Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky. She will begin as Director of Communications on Monday, October 20. We welcome Abigail to our Family of Parishes.
October is Respect Life Month; a time to join with the Catholic Church to defend the dignity of all human life, from the time we are in our mothers’ wombs until we take our final breath. Each moment of our lives is a gift from God. Each year the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops designates the first Sunday of October as the beginning of an annual Respect Life program. Today the gift of life is threatened in countless ways. Those who are most vulnerable, rather than receiving the protection they deserve, are all too often seen as a burden and as expendable. As new attacks on human life continue to emerge, we can be tempted to despair, but Christ instead offers us hope.
Hope is the virtue “by which we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ's promises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit” (CCC, 1817). Like us, Christ entered the world through the womb of a woman. He willingly experienced the fullness of human suffering. He took his last breath on the Cross at Calvary in order to save us. Therefore, “God is the foundation of hope: not any god, but the God who has a human face and who has loved us to the end” (Spe salvi 31).
The Church teaches us that “the one who has hope lives differently” (SS 2). By virtue of this Christian hope, we can face any challenge or trial. When the seas of life swell and we are battered by the waves, hope allows us to remain anchored in the heart of God. May we hold fast to Christ our hope, from the beginning of life to its very end. Do not be afraid to stand up for life. During this month, also being the Month of the Rosary, I encourage praying the Rosary for all of life that it be respected and upheld.
This weekend is the Halo Hustle at Guardian Angels on Saturday Evening and the Angel Picnic on Sunday after the 10:00 Mass. What a way to celebrate life!

Great news for anyone who pays Ohio income tax and supports Guardian Angels
We have many students at Guardian Angels who benefit from scholarships provided by the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF). Ohio taxpayers who donate to the CEF may be able to claim a dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return, up to $750 per donor. For more information, click here.
We hope you consider a donation before the end of the year and choose "Guardian Angels School (Cincinnati)(C00160)" from the drop-down when prompted.
Parishioner and tax expert, Brien Dulle, is donating. Here's what he had to say. "Supporting the CEF is a no-brainer for me for two reasons. As a graduate of GA that is also sending my daughters to the school, I want to invest in the education that our children receive. Secondly, there's no extra money out of pocket since I can claim a dollar-for-dollar Ohio tax credit."

Cookie Ministry
Thank you for your donations to the Cookie Ministry this year. The Peanut Butter group really appreciates your support. They minister to the needy at St. Francis Seraph Soup Kitchen all year, so your donations over the summer are much needed. They put together a lunch sack on Tuesday mornings, so your donations should be dropped off on Mondays in the rectory. Your donation of cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats, etc adds a sweet treat to the lunches our peanut butter group makes for the needy of the St. Francis Seraph Soup Kitchen. Treats can be homemade or store-bought, but should be individually packaged (2 cookies per bag). They are also in need of juice boxes or pouches and prepackaged snacks like chips, pretzels, cheez-its, etc.
If you would like to help put together the lunches or drive them down to St. Francis Seraph, contact Kathy Hosking at 513-232-0958. Thank you for your help!

We will meet monthly from September through April as a group on the first Wednesday of the month from 7:00pm-8:30pm in the Youth Room on IHM’s campus; and then once more for 20-30 mins each month during the 3rd week (times and locations TBD) in a 1:1 meeting with a teen life coach. Sensory-Friendly Mass at St. John Fisher First Sundays of the Month
St. Gregory the Great Family of Parishes and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Office for Persons with Disabilities offers a Sensory-Friendly Mass on the first Sunday of the month at St. John Fisher. All are welcome! A special invitation is extended to any person with autism, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, dementia, or sensory issues. These Masses may include lower lighting, quiet music and/or no music, and shorter more literal homilies; however, the biggest difference is that we try to create an environment free of stigma. We encourage families and individuals to get up and move if needed, to bring alternative seating, fidgets or noise cancelling headphones, and to participate in the liturgy just as they are.

Family Faith Formation for 2025-2026
St. Gregory the Great Family of Parishes offers faith formation opportunities for the children of our parishes. Our desire is to support you in your role as primary catechist, the one responsible for the faith formation of your family. After careful consideration of the family survey results and the updated Archdiocesan requirements, we are excited to share the dates, details, and registration link for our 2025-2026 St. Gregory the Great Faith Formation options. Each option is offered as an opportunity for families to grow in faith together. We strive to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to life by exploring our faith through study of our Catholic core beliefs, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Scripture, Sacraments, Saints, Prayer, and through practical application activities based on these teachings.
Option 1: Growing in Faith Together (K-6th Grade)
St. Gregory the Great children and parents meet bi-monthly on designated Sundays (10:30am-12:00pm) at IHM, beginning in October, for the Family Growing in Faith Together (GIFT) Gatherings. At least one parent is required to attend the gatherings with the child(ren). If you choose this option, the formal formation for your child in grades 1-6 will take place during our gatherings in the classroom with a catechist, while parents are in a separate learning session. The family will then come together for an activity related to the topic of the day. Homework will be required only if your family misses a gathering. Gathering dates for 2025-26: Oct. 5, Oct. 26, Nov. 9, Nov. 23, Dec. 7, Dec. 14, Jan. 11, Jan 25, Feb. 8, Feb. 22, Mar. 8, Mar. 29 Please add all dates to your calendar now so that you don’t miss anything.
Option 2: Weekly Plus (K-6th Grade)
St. Gregory the Great children in grades K-6 meet weekly on Sundays (8:30am -9:45am) at GA, from September through April, for catechist led classes within grade level groupings for learning and experiential activities. *Parents attend the following special five classes with their children: Oct. 26th, Nov. 23rd, Dec. 14th, Feb. 8th, and Mar. 29th. On these dates only, the formal formation for your child will take place in the classroom with a catechist, while parents are in a separate learning session. The family will then come together for an activity related to the topic of the day. Makeup work will be required only if your child misses a class.
Registration and Fees
There is an additional $20 fee for Grade 2 First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion prep and Grade 7 Confirmation prep. This covers the fee for any additional materials and retreats.
Fee for 1 child: $160.00 ($180.00 if your child is in grade 2 or 7)
Fee for 2 children: $240.00 (add $20 for each child in grade 2 or 7)
