News From Our Religious Education Office

CCD
Guardian Angels will be offering 2 different types of learning for our CCD program for the upcoming school year. CCD will take place Sunday mornings from 8:30-9:45am from September 12 through May 1. While continuing religious education is vital in every grade, it is crucial that 2nd and 8th graders be enrolled to receive their respective sacraments at GA. Those in 7th grade should be enrolled for Confirmation prep in order to be confirmed in their 8th grade year. Those wishing to enroll their children in CCD grades K-8 can find more information on the parish website. You can also use this link to register and pay for either option.

Get your registration in ASAP! Classes begin Sunday, September 12. Know a family who may be interested in CCD? Feel free to pass on the information.

All CCD families are invited to join in celebration of the new year at 10:00am Mass on September 12th. Materials for families who are homeschooling can be picked up after all Masses. Please keep our CCD families in your prayers!

RCIA
Do you know anyone interested in becoming Catholic or completing the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Holy Eucharist, Confirmation)? Have you ever thought about becoming Catholic? We are setting up classes for those who are already a part of our GA community, but have not been initiated into the Church as well as those who need to start from scratch. RCIA classes will begin in mid-September.

Is God calling you to help build His Church? We need you!! The parish is looking for help with those seeking to become Catholic through our RCIA program. We invite members of the parish to share in the faith formation of those entering the Church. No previous RCIA experience required and weekly attendance is not mandatory!

If you are interested in or have questions about either of these opportunities, reach out to our Director of Religious Education, Kay Froehlich.
Fathers Team

Fathers of our Guardian Angels family: you are invited to join us each Friday at 6:05am in Conference Room B (next to the undercroft) as part of our Fathers Team. Each week during the school year, we meet early on Friday for one hour to discuss a topic that is meaningful for dads.

Upcoming topics include:
September 10th: How to Balance Career, Catholicism, and Kids
September 17th: Favorite Bible Passages. Do you have a passage that you call on in a time of thankfulness?...or in a time of need?
September 24th: Giving your children feedback; Having hard conversations. As fathers, we are tasked to help our children grow and succeed. When you offer feedback or advice, how do you do it? How do you balance praise, correction and direction that ensures continual growth? What techniques have you found to be successful...or not.

No preparation is required. Just show up and join in the conversation...or just observe. You'll walk away more informed on this "dad topic" and be better equipped from the discussion to execute your most important role, that of being a good father. Come solo, or better yet, bring a friend! Again, mark your calendars to join us this Friday in person or optionally join via Zoom. Contact us at GAfathersteam@gmail.com for the zoom information, or to get on the GA Fathers Team email distribution.
Special Marriage Blessing

On Sunday, September 19th at the 10:00am Mass, there will be a special marriage blessing for couples who are celebrating a 5 year increment wedding anniversary any time during 2021. For example 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.

We would also like to display your wedding photo in the Gathering Space. If you would like to submit a copy, be sure to include your wedding date.

Please let the Parish Office know by Friday, September 10th if you would like to receive this special blessing and be recognized in the bulletin.

SafeParish - GA Volunteer Information

Guardian Angels is so thankful for the many adults who volunteer their time with children through our school, church, and extracurricular activities. The Archdiocese of Cincinnati requires any adult working with children to have an online background check (Selection.com) and receive child protection training. The archdiocese now offers training through a program called SafeParish™ which is conducted online. Those who were active under the old training protocols (Virtus) will not have to receive new training, but will have to register in the SafeParish™ system.

To register, go to http://www.aocsafeenvironment.org/ and click "Register." You will then use the password "protectcincy" to register under the new system. Those that were active under Virtus will be linked to the information on file, while new registrants will be prompted to undergo the online training. You can view details registration instructions by clicking here. Of email Bradley Barnes if you need assistance.
Beacons Update: Be Heard, Stay Informed, Sign Up
Make sure your voice is heard! Beacons of Light, the archdiocese-wide pastoral planning process currently underway, will result in all parishes being grouped into “Families” under the leadership of one pastor. A draft of this plan will be shared for public comment October 1-20 at www.BeaconsAOC.org. Do not miss this opportunity to provide your input to this important initiative which will shape the future of our archdiocese.

School Masses

Our school Masses have resumed. Due to Covid-19 and the additional measures we are taking to protect our students and staff, our All School Masses will be held privately for students and staff but will be live-streamed to our Facebook page and YouTube channel. Grade level Masses began last week and all visitors are welcome to join us for those Masses. Since we are welcoming visitors to these Masses, the grade level Masses will not be live streamed.
Please include our school community in your daily prayers!
