Summer Programs for Students Support
Smart Community Development

Students from Georgia Tech and universities across the country are participating in two summer programs to support local communities exploring smart technology and development.
Nominations Open for Newsweek Momentum Awards
Newsweek , in collaboration with experts at Georgia Tech, has convened an awards council to choose the honorees in "an annual celebration of the people and cities propelling the world towards an environmentally sustainable, socially equitable, economically viable future of autonomous mobility and smart urban environments." The  Newsweek Momentum Awards will recognize five individuals around the globe, as well as one smart city partnership. The winners will be announced in a special issue of  Newsweek  magazine in September. They will be honored at an event in Atlanta in the fall.

2019 GA Smart Fall Workshop

The workshop will showcase the final work product of the 1st class of the Georgia Smart Communities (Albany, Chatham, Chamblee, Gwinnett) as well as introduce the 2nd class (Macon, Columbus, Milton, and Woodstock). These smart communities projects provide real world examples of how communities of all sizes have tackled challenges in mobility and resilience using smart technologies and research.

Nationally renowned speaker, Angela Siefer, Executive Director of the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA), will provide the keynote on digital inclusion!

APA members can receive 3 Certification Maintenance (CM) credits for attending!

We believe all communities can be smart. Through the integration of technology and data, communities of various sizes, geographies, and development can be empowered to improve their quality of life. That is why we have pulled together a cross-sectoral partnership to raise awareness and knowledge, develop networks, and implement smart projects. This monthly newsletter is part of this greater effort!
