Happy Birthday to Mister Rogers!

Pittsburgh native Fred Rogers would have been 95 on March 20. He was the creator of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, as well as the host of all 895 episodes, the composer of its more than 200 songs, and the puppeteer who imagined 14 characters into being. Rather than pursue studies in theology as he had planned, Mr. Rogers began a television career, but he soon discovered commercial television was not for him. In 1953, he moved back to the area where he grew up to help found WQED in Pittsburgh, the first community-supported educational television station in the country. If you are coming to GA Pittsburgh, visit the History Center’s Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood exhibition. From the living room set that Mister Rogers walked through to begin each show to King Friday XIII’s Castle and Mr. McFeely’s “Speedy Delivery” tricycle, the long-term exhibit houses the largest collection of original items from the television set on public view.

Conflict Resolution Unifying Congregations Through Collaborative Decision Making
Saturday, April 22 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM ET
Collaborative decision making is a powerful and innovative conflict resolution process that can take us where debate and voting never will: to solutions everyone can actively support (or at least willingly accept!) reuniting congregations and communities around a shared sense of common purpose, clear goals and next steps forward.
