Spring Break Wrap-Up

GA hosted free spring break camps at nine sites across Miami-Dade, Homestead, and Broward during the last week of March. Almost 300 youth spent their week off learning something new and having fun in the process!

Elementary, middle, and high school students got the chance to do arts and crafts, STEM activities, career and leadership sessions, and participate in field trips to the Miami Youth Fair, Dezerland, and Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.

We can't wait to see everyone again this summer!

Pillar of Service Spotlight:

Family Strengthening

At GA, we know that a sound family environment is created by building protective factors and reducing risk factors, leading to positive outcomes for children and our communities.

Our family strengthening programs and services provide parents and other caregivers with resources, support, and strategies to contribute to a healthy home environment.

Programs under our Family Strengthening Pillar of Service provide the following services:

Care coordination in the form of providing access to resources for families including emergency housing, food, and transportation assistance
Case management to prevent and alleviate child malnourishment and maltreatment

Another service we provide is parenting education and support (individual and group) to address truancy, behavioral and other issues.

This includes open access to our monthly event, Parent Circle, which focuses on uniting parents and families to discuss issues and offer resources in a safe environment. This event includes presentations on family-related and child-rearing topics of interest, family games, and giveaways of gift cards, and hygiene baskets.

National Reading Month

Congratulations, GPS participants at Tabernacle of God!

Having read 256 books during National Reading Month, Tabernacle is the winning GA program site. As a reward, they were treated to an ice cream party and prize bags filled with goodies.
