Summer Camps Make a Big Wave This Year

Gang Alternative, Inc. is mid-way through our four summer camps, (BLOC, Robotics and Life Skills camp, GPS, and GPS 21). Youth are learning exciting new things and meeting lifelong friends while still following CDC guidelines to remain safe and vigilant. We checked in with a few of our campers to get a sense of their camp experiences so far.

"We are looking forward to making our robots great to be able to win the competition. ", Amari L. from N. Miami Robotics Camp.

“My favorite thing about camp is that the staff is caring.” Ja’kori J., from GPS Camp.

“We always do fun activities and I really like this place.” Caylee R. (age 7), from GPS Camp.

“ I love apples, grapes and oranges! I love Tasty Tuesday’s!” Rudolph P. (age 6), from GPS Camp.

A devotion in honor of the victims and families of the tragic event at Surfside Champlain Towers was held at the BLOC North Miami Church of Nazarene Site. The students created posters that they signed with words of love, strength, and hope for the families of Surfside.

One student, Ramanda F. wrote, “I know your hurting, but we have to stand strong together. As I am praying, I will remember you”.

Anastasia B. wrote, “Sending much love and prayers your way through these tough times, you will get through this”.

GA has opened a new office space in Homestead!

Our staff in Homestead are working on expanding our reach in the

southern Miami-Dade County area, with a new office located at

15600 SW 288th St, Ste. 402, 33033.

Summer Internship Program

Our Summer Internship program began July 1^st with a total of 18 youth participating this summer. The youth are expected to arrive on time and be ready to work what is for many of them, their first paid job opportunity.

Their assignments include creating weekly content for Vote The Future Civic Engagement, that they must post on their personal social media page.

We appreciate all our staff's effort to make space for our youth to gain real-world experience this summer.
