Dear members, partners & friends,
if you missed this week's welcome of our
GABC Advisory Council, we are sharing it again with you today. Together with the
GABC Board of Directors we have great leadership in place and I am excited for what is in store for the GABC as we are growing the business network and creating deeper connections between Germany and the U.S.!
It's been a week with lots of "political chatter" about pending announcements, in particular the likely extension/expansion of the existing Executive Order restricting immigration that may impact the German (and international) business community at large. What's at stake is laid out in the
Forbes story under "In the News". (Our weekly
#poll hints at this topic:
vote!)
And finally, if you are thinking about
summer travel, we compiled
guidelines in place regarding Europe and the U.S. (Note: they can change any time and always doublecheck).
Stay healthy.
Emily Westhoven
Executive Director

Message from the president
|
|
We are extremely pleased to announce the formation of the
GABC Advisory Council
which met for the first time recently for an introductory virtual session with the GABC Board of Directors.
The Advisory Council was established to provide the board and leadership team with objective opinions, suggestions and inspiration about the organization, its activities and development. Members of the Advisory Council were selected and appointed by the GABC Board of Directors and constitute a cross-section of accomplished and successful business leaders and entrepreneurs with deep ties to the German-American business community. We are delighted to have them onboard to help us further our mission of promoting business and trade between Germany and the U.S. and strengthen the impact and relevance of our network.
Please join us in welcoming the inaugural group of eight members of the Advisory Council which will advise and help our organization move forward into the future.
With best regards,
Bodo Liesenfeld
President

A new movie @ the Coolige Virtual Screening Room:
I Was I Am I Will Be (Es gilt das gesprochene Wort)
As the title suggests, language and communication is one of its themes, besides migration and the defiance of stereotypes. It’s a romance between two very different people that hopefully lifts your spirits and helps you make it through the current challenges.

GABC YP co-chairs
Susanna Bächle and
Thorben Beckmann hosted another successful virtual monthly Stammtisch. This time, participants could take their fellow Stammtischler on a quick virtual Google tour to a special place in their home or favorite town. (Do you know where this
cathedral with the particular high tower is located?). The next Stammtisch is scheduled for July 14.

As you may be thinking about summer travel plans, we compiled a few guidelines and restrictions that are in place. Please note that this may change at any time and please always refer to the most updated information issued by the respective countries.
Travel to Germany:
- The German government, in coordination with the German states, has announced the easing of border restrictions with neighboring countries. On June 15, travelers already within the Schengen Zone will be able to travel more freely into Germany.
- At this time, airlines are advertising additional direct flights between the United States and Germany. Please note: travel restrictions are still in effect for travel from the United States to Germany. (Source: U.S. Embassies & Consulates in Germany)
- U.S. citizens who are not residents of the EU and do not fall into one of several narrow exceptions will be denied entry to Germany. Travelers should be prepared for the possibility that additional travel restrictions will be implemented with little or no advance notice. (Source: U.S. Embassies & Consulates in Germany)
- In general, a 14-day quarantine is mandatory for all persons entering Germany from a third country. Travellers from EU countries, the Schengen area and the United Kingdom are not required to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in Germany unless their entry is from a country with a high infection rate* and the corresponding regulation of the federal state** requires this. (Source: Robert Koch Institut)
T

- After arriving to the United States from one of these countries, CDC recommends that travelers stay home and monitor their health for 14 days. (Source: CDC)
