Greetings from the President Claudio Riedi

A Word From The President
$5,300,000,000.
That’s how much merchandise was imported and exported between Germany and Florida in 2022. Germany’s merchandise exports to Florida alone accounted for $4.3 billion. German direct investment in Florida sustains 39,000 jobs – Germany is the third-largest foreign investor in the Florida economy.
We sometimes lose sight that German businesses in Florida are part of an economic tsunami originating in Germany. Often, the GABC and its members go about their daily business, trying to make ends meet, without awareness that we are all part of something larger: a community originating in Europe intent on creating wealth for our new-found home. That is something to be proud of, and to let the world know.
The GABC is contributing in a small way to this tsunami, by bringing together businesses rooted in Germany or tied together by German language and Fleiss. See in this issue what events took place this Spring, what events we are planning this Summer, which new members have joined us, and which old members made news. And while you read the information in our newsletter, pat yourself on the back for bringing prosperity to both Germany and Florida.

Was suchen wir?

edding
Long-lasting, versatile, expressive, creative: these are the words that describe the values of the edding group.
The company was founded in 1960 in Hamburg, Germany. Their very first product - the legendary all-round marker no.1 - served as a blueprint for generations of markers to follow. Today, edding’s products are sold worldwide in more than 110 countries. This success is based on two brands: edding and Legamaster.
edding represents variety and expertise in all matters relating to color, primarily due to the range of markers and writing implements. From the classic permanent marker to special-purpose products such as the UV or aerospace marker as well as products for DIYers and creative types, the range includes more than 180 markers. Approximately 80% of edding products are manufactured in Europe, mainly Germany.
On the other hand, the portfolio of Legamaster includes classic and electronic products for visual communication, such as whiteboards and smartboards, as well as devices that enable digital authentication.
Not only known for permanent markers - discover the creative diversity of edding!
Whether for paper, fabric, ceramics, stone, metal, canvas or wood, for precise fine writings or coloring large areas, for numerous different materials and versatile applications, edding offer over 300 specific creative products. It’s edding’s goal to help you express yourself, let your ideas flow and add your personal touch with the certainty to achieve an expert result with every edding.
Successfully working and presenting in the office.

Pia Angelides
My name is Pia Angelides and I was born and raised in Berlin, Germany.
In 2009, I successfully received my associates degree to become a Travel Agent at Deutsches Reisebuero GmbH & Co. OHG Atlasreisen Travel Agency in Berlin, Germany. In 2010, I decided to improve my English skills at the Embassy CES in Fort Lauderdale for 3 months. After falling in love with Fort Lauderdale at the age 22, I decided to make Fort Lauderdale my home since I am an absolute beach lover. The cold weather is not for me!
In 2011, I took the opportunity to continue my career in the travel industry at New World Travel Inc in Miami as a Reservations Coordinator. With my ability to build relationships, advocate, and foster trust with customers, I was promoted to Reservations Supervisor & Guest Services. In my role, I managed and grew my account base to over 15+ clients. Over my career, I have hired, trained, and coached dozens of team members while managing their performance. I am fluent in English and German and learned how to multitask in two languages very quickly with my 15 years experiences in the travel industry.
Moving to the US as a young woman by myself, made me stronger and grow a lot. If I learned one thing during that process, it’s that you can achieve anything you want if you are willing to work hard! With the major impact of Covid – 19 on the travel industry, we were forced to discontinue our collaboration at New World Travel.
I decided to get my Real Estate License and have been enjoying my new career path with passion for the consumer. My business is built on communication, dedication, and transparency! Change is good and I am ready to take on a new challenge.
In my free time I enjoy boating with my husband and seeking new restaurants with my friends since I am an absolute foodie. Christmas is my favorite holiday because it brings people together and that’s what it is all about: connecting with people!
I am looking for a position that offers diversity and teamwork. Even though the tourism industry has been my focus in the past, I am open to any new opportunities that allows me to use my excellent communication and organization skills. My main goal is to grow, learn and gain new skills.
