A Word From The President
October is upon us, and we all know what that means.
Yes, Oktoberfest, with Weisswurst and Beer, and yes the German unification day celebration, which will take place in person for the first time since 2020. But is also means the height of Hurricane season.
This year, more than any other time in recent memory, we are reminded how precarious Florida’s position as official paradise is. As we watched the horrible pictures from Naples, Fort Myers, and Punta Gorda, we recognize that, but for the grace of God, so go we here in South Florida. All of us have many contacts on the west coast, and I know that every one of us has friends and relatives that have been hit hard by Hurricane Ian. It behooves us, as members of the GABC, to do our best to support our friends and colleagues in Southwest Florida, be it through donations, volunteering, or accommodations in business transactions. We are them, and they are us.
On our side, the GABC has new digs. Our offices, as you will read, are now in South Beach – we are moving up…. And we were able to reconnect with old friends: Lufthansa Industry Solutions. Our affiliation with Lufthansa in the past was always a source of pride for us, and we greatly value the return of the most German of German companies to our ranks.
And last but not least, I direct you to our announcement of our Fundraiser on November 15, in the Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne. Be on the lookout for the official invitation. This will be our signature event for the year. It will let you reconnect with old friends, and help us raise the funds we need to operate the GABC. The event will be fabulous, and our annual auction is back better than ever. See you there.

Jannik Kumbier
Hello everyone, my name is Jannik Kumbier and I recently moved from Atlanta to Miami. I was born and raised in Northern Germany, but I have been living in the US for the last 7 years.
I initially came to the US to play tennis and study. After finishing my tennis career and getting my Bachelors degree I decided to start my professional career in Atlanta. I love a variety of sports (tennis, soccer, cycling, etc.) and I am a car enthusiast.
Now the next phase of life begins in Miami and I am looking forward to making new connections.
Cheers,
Jannik
