Message from GACA Executive Director
Dear Members and Friends,

I wanted to update everyone on our Hall of Fame banquet on June 5, 2021.
The Dalton Convention Center has given us a Covid-19 guide that we must follow.

We will have a limited number of seats that are available, and they will
be reserved for the family and guests of the inductees and award winners.
The six inductees have a total of 28 (including themselves) guests they
have submitted to our office to invite. The award winners have a total of
8 on their list.

We will not be able to have our usual past inductees, past presidents, and
sponsor invitations. It is our hope that in 2022 we can return to normal
activities for our Hall of Fame weekend. If you have any questions, please

2020 Nike Coach of the Year Award
Ron Gartrell of Stephenson High School
The 2020 Nike Coach of the Year Award, will be presented to Coach Ron Gartrell of Stephenson High School.

Coach Gartrell has been a Head Coach for 33 years. His first head coaching job was at Shamrock High School, and for the past 25 years he has been at Stephenson.

He is one of the premier coaches in the state and he
has an outstanding record
of 239-121-0.
The award will be presented at the GACA Hall of Fame banquet on June 5, 2021 in Dalton, Georgia. Congratulations Coach Ron Gartrell!

Membership renewal for the 2021-22 school year begins on
April 1, 2021. This will have you and your coaches ready for next year and all of the exciting opportunities provided by the GACA.

2020 Georgia Army National Guard
All Star Football Rosters Released!
The GACA regrets the cancellation of the game last year for Covid-19 restrictions and protocols. The GACA is honored to recognize an ALL-STAR team by selecting a roster from the Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors that you nominated from your Football Program and the GACA / Georgia Army National Guard looks forward to the return of this event in December 2021!

GFCA Spring Clinic Sessions
The GFCA is partnering with Georgia colleges and universities to bring our members and fellow football coaches the opportunity to learn and grow together. Clinics will be held every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday during March and April. You will hear from some of the best coaches our great state has to offer. Week 1 Schedule starts Sunday, March 7th.

2021 GACA Lee Murray
Weight Lifting Championships
The Lee Murray Weight Lifting Championships originated with the GACA when Coach Lee Murray organized coaches in the off-season to help motivate strength programs to compete on a state level. Weight Lifting is NOT a GHSA sport and the GACA – Lee Murray Weight Lifting Championships are NOT a GHSA sanctioned event and does not require normal GHSA eligibility criteria. The events are insured by the GACA and require that each participating athlete have a current physical on file with the participating school. All rules and competition decisions in the event are final with the GACA and the Event Coordinator:

The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association is excited to
announce their endorsement of “Coaching Tree”, a really
exciting new job listings website.
